The Flight Deck / FS9 and SB questions
« on: October 18, 2009, 09:01:49 PM »
Hi Roger,

There's a feature in FSUIPC that can disable these messages. I'm not sure if you need a registered version to do this, though, I'd guess that you'd need to register it for any of the advanced features.

The multiplayer labels can be changed through your ATC/AI settings. No idea why they have changed from your previous settings unless it's fresh install or you've made a large change to FS. Have you checked your FS9.cfg file? See if there have been any changes to this file recently. As regards not seeing all the aircraft, check your firewall/antivirus, router settings. They may have changed due to a patch or recent update.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

The Classroom (Controller Tips) / VRC's Flight Strip Bay
« on: July 19, 2009, 10:24:58 PM »
Hi Will,

In all my years using VRC, apart from certain events where it was required to use it (CTP etc.), I have never used the strip bay at all and have no plans to use it. Using the arrival and departure list in association with CTRL-Click or F6-Click is all that I need to efficiently control on the network in any position.

If you have a small laptop screen, I would say this might be the way to go although VRC was primarily designed for use with more than 1 monitor. Have you tried ASRC? It is more compatible with single monitor setups.

Cheers!

The Control Room Floor / ATIS by CTR controllers
« on: May 04, 2009, 11:37:53 AM »
Hi Roger,

I have no problem with a CTR supplying an ATIS, as long as it is done through ATIS maker and not through their controller info. This way it is identifiable with an airport and no confusion can happen.

I agree with you that controllers placing ATIS info with no airport identifier in their controller info is confusing and with the availability of specific ATIS frequencies, it is the wrong method in creating an ATIS (VRC users).

There's always the chance that we have guys using ASRC. In that case, it should be made clear what airport the ATIS info is for.

Cheers!

General Discussion / Alternate forum skins
« on: February 02, 2009, 10:07:03 AM »
Hi,

From what I believe, this is a customised CSS skin due to features that have been put in place on the forum. We're going to have to wait until one of the guys has some time to create a new skin for the forum and I know they are quite busy at the moment.

Either that, or someone could contact VATUSA6 and offer their services, if they have the know how. I'm sure VATUSA would appreciate the help.

Cheers!

Don,

Alan was already the TA at vZTL, so he's already done senior prom. The frathouse party he's going to is one where you don't want to get drunk and fall asleep. Take my word for that! They don't call us "Chief" for nothing, you know...

Cheers!

The Flight Deck / Software Setup Issues
« on: January 07, 2009, 12:01:43 PM »
Hi,

I wouldn't say that exactly.

What would be more accurate to say would be that if you are going to fly on VATSIM, then find the server physically closest to your location and connect to that.

Although the majority of my flying and controlling is done in the US, I connect to UK1 as that is the server closest to my location.

A list of all available servers should be automatically downloaded by your client when you start it up.

Cheers!

The Control Room Floor / VRC help!
« on: January 07, 2009, 11:57:08 AM »
Hi,

Sounds like a port time out. Do you have the necessary ports forwarded? If so, then it's either in your router settings or it's not. If not, then all you can really do is push your PTT every 30 secs or so to keep the port active.

Cheers!

Can we maybe switch forum software then?

Because that is a pain in the rear end and it's a time waster.

[!--quoteo--][div class=\\\'quotetop\\\']QUOTE [/div][div class=\\\'quotemain\\\'][!--quotec--]Howdy,

It's a bit cluttered, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Any chance that we can edit topic titles also? I just made a typo in the title of my first post and I can't change it.

Cheers![/quote]

Ok,

I see what it's doing. It's auto formatting the titles.

ie. My titles should read vZBW, not Vzbw.

Do I get to change this behaviour also as a staff member or is that your pervue Brian?

Cheers!

mmm,

Not really a fan of that feature. Anyone else?

If I want to amend a previous post, then I use edit. Otherwise if it does this, posts will start to look confusing. Now, let me go back to that previous post and edit it so it makes sense.

Cheers!

Also,

Fast reply seems to be adding (edit) to my previous post rather than adding a new post. Is that intentional?

Cheers!
