I just wanted to post this here for visibility for those interested:

The FAA is hiring entry-level Air Traffic Controllers with the job opening posted through July 14th. Check out the link here (https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/473871400) to review the qualifications and apply.

Best of luck to all who choose to apply.

I would suggest all speculation be held until either Will Anderson, the ATM, or a member of VATUSA staff responds to any further ZTL-based events, unfortunately.

By my count, all ARTCCs except 3 were able to participate in last nights event! So great to see such a wide range of participation across the network. Very refreshing!

Hey Odin, welcome to VATUSA!
What is the error you are getting when trying to sign in? I see that you already have joined ZID today.
In regards to the sector, pof, and aliases files, those should be provided by ZID on their website.

Good Luck!

Hi, Odin! Glad you have you! I'm the Facilities Engineer for Indy Center! Be on the lookout for a welcome email from David Stone, the Air Traffic Manager, soon regarding login information for the TeamSpeak server where you will find all of the files you will need.

See you soon!

Which license version of P3D is everyone talking about?

The academic and professional versions are essentially the same. The only thing that's truly different about them is one is meant for educational use and the other is meant for commercial purposes.

To say it's pretty nonstandard is an understatement, but do you all plan to implement some type of a TMU or just inbound holds should it get too bad?

We'd like to have a TMU but we just don't have the man power. We expect the bulk of traffic to come from ZLA so we've coordinated 20 MIT with them, which will potentially be increased if needed, and good old fashioned holds. If it comes down to it we'll do a ground stop and let the traffic trickle out but we're going to try our absolute best to not have that happen. Southern California is expecting similar weather so it's going to be a wild ride tonight.  ;D

Wild times out in Cali! Have fun tonight!

I'm just so overwhelmed right now, i thought why not tune in to a tower and listen in to get the jist
I did that already, the problem is finding the files to be able to listen in. I want to listen in on Boston right now (Becuase their active at this moment) but I can't figure out how to tune in through the program
I see that you've spent some time online as a pilot today, which is honestly the best way just to listen to frequencies on the network. You can simply log on, sit on the ground at an airport close to where you want to listen in, and then tune the frequency.

Also, once you select a facility, the training staff there will help you set up your radar client and start the training program. No one here got to where they are on their own. We have all relied on people in order to get through the process. Don't get me wrong, we would love to have you in Indianapolis, but you really cannot go wrong with any ARTCC in VATUSA. If you would like to go to Minneapolis or Denver, I'm sure they'd welcome you with open arms and help you start your training.

Thanks! I just joined the Memphis facility so hopefully I hear something back soon!
Richard and his staff run a good ship at ZME, and I'm sure you'll be well served there!

That really all depends what you'd like to do or accomplish. If you like flying with ATC, I would suggest looking on VATSPY or Vattastic to see which facilities are online and setting up a flight that way. If you like to fly low and slow, you can pick a certain geographic region of the country you'd like to fly as well and work with any ATC that are available. It really all depends on you.
