« on: January 06, 2016, 12:11:19 PM »
Good Afternoon,

As many are aware of, our Air Traffic Manager (Tony Jeppesen) will be leaving his role as with his last day set for January 31st, 2016. In honor of his hard work and dedication to both the ARTCC's and VATUSA's Mission and their success -  we are hosting a group fly-out from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA) to Spokane International Airport (KGEG) on Thursday January 28th, 2016. We will need to load up many planes with his belongings as he has been hoarding  in the ATM office for over 2 years!

Lets fly it back to his home! All are welcome to attend.

Please: If you plan on attending, sign-up in advance at the following link on the ARTCC website.

General Discussion / Re: Traffic Patterns
« on: January 05, 2016, 08:17:30 AM »
Jonathan,

    That is great! This could be a personal preference to some but, personally I think the Yoke/Rudder Pedal combination will give you the most realistic experience when flying fixed wing aircraft. I had a CH Products Throttle quadrant, Yoke and rudder Pedal setup for the longest time and cannot do more than recommend it.

    If you are looking to get the most realistic experience that you can I suggest you begin one of the VATSIM Pilot Training programs (https://www.vatsim.net/pilots/training). This will guide you in the proper direction. You may also want to consider joining a Virtual Airline or FBO to get the community feeling which many real world pilots enjoy as well!

Thank you for reaching out, feel free to message me if you want to speak more!

General Discussion / Re: What ARTCC?
« on: December 16, 2015, 09:55:42 AM »
Alex,

    This is a tough question. Every ARTCC in a sense has a grace period in which you will need to catch up on your studies and get up to speed on the new policies and regulations included in the 7110.65 since your last time controlling. You need to simply ask yourself, what do you want to get out of it? There are benefits in each and every ARTCC and they vary, but one thing to keep in mind is that we all have the same expectations - and that is professionalism, realism and just as important, enjoyment. I suggest you hop on VRC/ASRC/Euroscope and observe traffic patterns, activity and talk to some controllers personally and ask what they like/dislike about their ARTCC. I am sure you will find what you are looking for, just have an open mind and be committed to the ARTCC mission and you will succeed. Let me know if you have any further questions!

Ryan,

    First of all thank you for taking the initiative in starting a Virtual Airline. I have some feedback if you are interested, from an outside perspective. If in fact you are please shoot me an e-mail at [email protected]. I do not want to inundate you with input that you may not want. Hope all is well.

Good luck.

The Control Room Floor / Re: VRC Flight Strips...
« on: December 08, 2015, 01:39:10 PM »
Mr. Gaupin,

   This seems like an issue that would most accurately be resolved by Metacraft/VRC development personnel. They have a forum for questions regarding usage/bug issues and reports. I placed the link below for you. It looks like you have tried to reach out to them, if Ross is unable to help you - it most likely is a system capability issue. Please let us know if you find any specifics out on the issue.

All the best,
Chris

Events / Seattle Suicide Operations!
« on: October 16, 2015, 06:47:33 AM »

~~~Ghost Noises~~~
It is that time of year again! With Halloween coming up at the end of this month, VATUSA's Seattle ARTCC is gearing up for our new annual Seattle Suicide Operations. The event will feature the Seattle Tacoma International Airport (KSEA). We will have our lights on for "trick or treater's" on Thursday October 29th from 2100EST - 2300EST.
However be aware that in light of Halloween being just three short days later, we will be operating under Suicide Operations. Seattle will be landing and departing not 3, not 2 but only 1 runway  - with traffic landing and departing in both directions. Keep in mind, quality of control will not be hindered during this event, and Seattle ARTCC continues to strive for professionalism. Take a break from your routine flights and come by the Seattle ARTCC this Halloween and test your fate with our first annual Seattle Suicide Operations event!
Events / Good Evening ZSE: Spokane Edition
« on: September 30, 2015, 07:06:13 AM »
This will be our first stop in our Showcase Seattle series where we will be featuring several airfields around Seattle ARTCC's airspace during our weekly Good Evening Seattle event block. This week (October 15th, 2015) we will be featuring Spokane International Airport (KGEG). Spokane International Airport is a commercial airport about 5 miles west of downtown Spokane. It is the primary airport for Spokane, Eastern Washington, Coeur d'Alene, and North Idaho. The event begins promptly at 2100EST / 9:00PM EST and ends at 2300EST 11:00PM EST.
The short event time ensures that all positions are to be staffed during the block - the late start time also gives pilots the ability to fly in from a variety of destinations within a 2 hour arrival window.
Sponsored Route: KSEA-KGEG / EST, 45 Minutes
SEA4 EPH ZOOMR ZOOMR1
(http://www.airnav.com/airport/kgeg)
Note: During our Good Evening Seattle Series we will be utilizing sponsored routing. For the designated routing - full ATC services will be available from engine start to stop. Plan on an action packed airspace!
