BREAKING NEWS!

If you’ve been around VATUSA for any length of time, you know Anthony. He joined the VATSIM network in 2003, nearly 20 years ago! To this day, he is very active within our communications channels and as VATUSA3, Anthony was part of the team that was responsible for the incredible VATUSA Academy that launched just last year. Anthony has previously served as senior staff in a couple different VATUSA facilities, namely ZKC & ZNY, and most recently as Deputy Division Director, Training. Anthony is a High School Band teacher during the day and has an amazing history of contributions to the VATSIM network. Please join us in welcoming Anthony to his new role!

VATUSA is looking for Discord Moderators!

Discord Moderators are key to ensuring the Discord experience is fair, balanced, and healthy for all our members, visitors, and guests that utilize the server.

Duties and Responsibilities: Moderation of content posted to the VATUSA Discord Server, including but not limited to, the following duties: 

  • Maintains a high level of activity in the VATUSA Discord Server
  • Monitoring content posted to the VATUSA Discord by members
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the membership through the Discord Server
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Lead Discord Moderator, Marketing Manager, or Technical Manager

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no significant derogatory marks
  • Currently hold a rating of Senior Student (S3) or higher
  • Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail Oriented

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous or current ARTCC staff experience
  • Previous or current Discord, forum, chat, or other moderation experience

This position requires a significant commitment to the VATUSA Division, however is NOT mutually exclusive of ARTCC staff positions (i.e. One may hold ZXX ATM & DMT roles concurrently).

  • Full name, email address and VATSIM CID
  • Cover letter (Introduction and why you’d be a good moderator)
  • Brief resume outlining VATSIM experience and any other relevant experience
  • Letter of recommendation from a current or previous ARTCC, VATUSA or equivalent staff member

Social Media Team - Multi Media Content Assistant(s)

The VATUSA Social Media Team is seeking qualified & motivated individuals that possess a high degree of energy and commitment to serve as multi media content assistants for several of our platforms. Applicants should note that this position requires a significant time commitment during “peak” seasons (events, streams etc..)

Job Description
•   Creates content in the form of Twitter posts, Facebook posts etc.
•   Assists in the development of VATUSA brand through new and expressive ways or existing forms via our social media platforms.
•   Provide feedback and assist in tracking engagement statistics.
•   Attend periodic meetings called by the SMT and/or VATUSA HQ
•   Assists the Marketing Manager or respective lead in the operation of the VATUSA Social Media Platforms
•   Must maintain an active presence on the VATSIM network, VATUSA Discord, and VATUSA Social Channels
•   Other duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager or department leads.
* Must be motivated and willing to draft or publish posts on demand.
* Must have an open mindset and availability and be able to work in a team oriented environment.

Minimum Requirements
•   Currently hold a rating of Student 2 (S2) or higher for at least 90 days at the candidate’s current facility
•   Experience with Tweetdeck, Facebook, instagram and other major social media platforms.
•   Must be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism while being able to provide age and content appropriate comedic relief.
•   Requires a passion for high quality content and continuous improvement in skills
•   Works well in a team-oriented environment
•   Be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no significant disciplinary actions
•   Excellent written and oral communication skills
•   Able to receive constructive feedback and make corrective action
•   Requires a commitment of at least 4-6 hours a week


Preferred Qualifications:
•   Previous or current ARTCC staff experience
•   Have held a rating of C1 for at least 90 days at any given time prior to hiring date
•   Real World marketing or social media management experience is a plus.
* Member of the Winnipeg FIR (this is strictly optional but preferred)
•   Real world aviation experience (pilot or air traffic control) would be a plus

b.   list of prior experience

Job Description
•   Creates content in the form of sim capture, CGI graphics, etc. for inclusion in VATUSA Videos & Live Streams
•   Assists in the development of VATUSA video series
•   Periodically edit videos in production by the SMT
•   Attend periodic meetings called by the SMT and/or VATUSA HQ
•   Assists the Marketing Manager in the operation of the VATUSA YouTube & Twitch Channels
•   Must maintain an active presence on the VATSIM network, VATUSA Discord, and VATUSA Social Channels
•   Other duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager

Minimum Requirements
•   Currently hold a rating of Student 2 (S2) or higher for at least 90 days at the candidate’s current facility
•   2+ Years Adobe After Effects, Davinci Resolve, or Apple Motion experience
•   1+ Year Adobe Premiere Pro or Apple FinalCut experience
•   Active subscription to Adobe Creative Suite (AE & Premiere) or equivalent (VATUSA SMT uses Adobe CS)
•   Requires a passion for high quality content and continuous improvement in skills
•   Works well in a team-oriented environment
•   Be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no significant disciplinary actions
•   Excellent written and oral communication skills
•   Able to receive constructive feedback and make corrective action
•   Requires a commitment of at least 4-6 hours a week

Do something like Uber. Pilots can send feedback to controllers(which is already a thing), and controllers can leave feedback on a pilot. Hopefully, pilots will take it as constructive criticism.

YES! Ebay or Uber like feedback. Points given or taken away by a mostly automated system that would have input components to it on the part of ATC or the Pilot. In a very basic analogy think Ebay feedback.  I leave the seller feedback as the buyer and the seller leaves me feedback.

Also, the Pilots leaving Controller feedback isn't centralized currently and the pilots have no way of knowing a controller feedback rating.  Most, if not all, ARTCCs/FIRs don't even display a feedback metric on their website by controller.
