Team USA,
There has been a recent spike in instances where controllers are including inappropriate remarks in their (ATIS) Controller info. This includes, but is not limited to, intolerant remarks toward new members, suggesting that new and/or non-English-speaking and/or non-voice members fly elsewhere, log off, etc.
Not only is this a violation of the VATSIM Code of Conduct, sections A1 and A10, it's incredibly poor form and reflects badly not only on the controller, but on VATUSA. That kind of intolerance is not welcome here. Yes, I've been frustrated by folks without skills before, they often come at a bad time, but we were all new once and everyone deserves as much help as we can reasonably give them. They don't deserve disparaging and harmful remarks. That behavior needs to stop. Right now. It will not be tolerated within this Division, nor anywhere on VATSIM. Thank you in advance for raising the bar, not lowering it.

This is down right despicable that some controllers do this.

I have emailed all my controllers this post, as I know most of them have never visited the forums. So all my controllers have been notified. This is not acceptable in my book either and very disappointing to hear is happening at all before this post.

Warren, thanks for passing that on. ARTCC staff, I'd appreciate it if you'd retransmit this message on your ARTCC forums. Thanks.

Sent out to ZOA members. A bit shocking that some would actually put that in their remarks.

Sent out to our folks.
But, still scratching our heads why someone could be such an a**.

For the record:
The Executive Committee policy regarding controller information ATIS states.
(This policy has been in effect since 2003)
"All air traffic controllers are to have ATIS to a size never greater than four lines with a suggested
maximum of three lines. The suggested format includes the controller's voice connection details (if
using voice) in first line, then runways in use (if appropriate), followed only by some simple details of
the airport / airspace they are controlling in the lines to follow."
EC ATIS Policy (http://www.vatsim.net/index.php?eID=tx_nawsecuredl&u=0&file=fileadmin/docs/ec/ec_globalatis.pdf&t=1416752757&hash=19d4a0dbb0543c8ddd73ad4ef2a838f2)
I think the ATIS comments have gotten out of hand. From the outright ridiculous as Don mentions in his post to the attempts to be humorous in others I've seen while on the network, none of this has a place in the controller ATIS, VATUSA or VATSIM. Divisional staff and network SUPs have been given notice to be on the lookout for off-handed comments and take appropriate action necessary not only to protect the integrity and inclusiveness of the network but also the division that so many of us pour our blood, sweat and tears into everyday.

Patience and understanding my arse! If I find one of my controllers behaving in this manner there won't be enough patience and understanding in VATSIM for them to control again for me!
