Guys,

Let's put an end to this HERE AND NOW! We're not in the third grade...Mr. Millsaps is not going to the Headmaster...we're not on the elementary school playground any more.

For those who have NOT read GRPv2, by command of the EC, the LCTP program is defunct and no longer authorized.

I'm NOT going to run around making sure your documents and procedures are all in compliance with the regs...the ATDs have the responsibility to the Division to do that...and they will do so.

What I WILL take ownership of is the ultimate responsibility to insure the facility policies and procedures are in accord with the VATSIM, EC, Region, Division, etc. requirements...so if you DO hear from me, you will know why.

If ANYONE happens to find an errant policy or whatever, I would ask that YOU SEND ME AN EMAIL TO THAT EFFECT. This public "outing" of facilities by name, reference, inference,  or IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER is unnecessary, boorish and borders on childish behavior. We're all adults here...so please, let's act like adults!

Okay?

http://www.vatsim.net/network/docs/grp/ is the only written authority for a 'major'

KMCO is not yet listed there.  If the intent is for it to be a major it can only be approved by the EC and only when listed does its status change.
KMCO's MAJOR status is being worked out...should have a resolution very shortly.

Not to throw fire on this subject, but here is my opinion.

Mr. Vodnansky here seems to like bashing people publicly even if it is in the form of asking a 'question' and/or without naming names.

I have read numerous other posts from him that strikes me as being somewhat hostile towards other members of VATUSA or VATSIM in general. At the same time I will say that there are some remarks which Mr. Vodnansky has made in the past about the enforcement and/or existence of written policies within VATUSA and VATSIM that I do agree with.

However, I do not believe matters such as these should creep their way onto the boards.

If you have a specific question that relates to someone violating any VATSIM or VATUSA policy then this should be address directly and discretely through email with a VATUSA Staff Member, such as the DCRM. Nothing wrong with due diligence, however it should be practiced with an appreciation for being respectful and discrete.

Let this not become a tattle-tale forum board. Please.

Best to all,

Andrew

Couldn't have said it any better than this!!! Thank you Andrew!

It seems as though at least one VATUSA facility is unaware of that fact...
A PM on this would be appreciated...

The Control Room Floor / Losing "MAJOR" Endorsement

Yes...BUT...

There better be a DAMN good reason for seeking such a drastic action AND every other option that might be available to alleviate the problem had better have been explored and the use of and results of those options well documented.

Jason,

While I cannot vouch for your understanding and therefore cannot speak to the inherent accuracy of your question, I can unequivocally say the LCTP program and the facilities designated as such are a thing of the past.

I just couldn't resist...

Interesting, I wasn't aware that VATUSA could override the EC.

Gary, if you are watching this thread, is the list on VATUSA's site correct?

Bryan, as VATNA1, and as the chair of the EC, could you explain the process used to designate a "major" facility?  When did the EC vote on adding KMCO to the list? Could you also explain which source takes priority?

Surely some process has been used to bypass the EC's authority...
On reviewing the GRP v2 list, I would say there has been an inadvertent omission of KMCO as an authorized MAJOR Facility within the vZJX ARTCC. I found no facility from vZJX in the list at all and think if any facility within the ARTCC warrants MAJOR status, it would be KMCO. Additionally, it was accepted as such prior to GRPv2 and would think that status carried forward to v2 with no reservations.

As for the process to establish a MAJOR, it is the same it has always been...request processed through the Division to Region where all things being good-to-go, it is presented at the next scheduled EC meeting and voted on.

NOTE: There is NO allowance for nor intent at the Division level to override this process.

One question I have, was this coordinated/approved through the Southern ATD?

General Discussion / Major Problem
« on: August 30, 2010, 06:33:31 PM »
Hi Ralph,

According to VATUSA records, after your request was entered to join Cleveland ARTCC from Inactive status, two emails were sent to you by the Cleveland ARTCC confirming your commitment to be an active member within the ARTCC. Neither email received a reply from you....thus, your request for transfer was reset.

Your request to re-join Seattle ARTCC from Inactive status is dated 8/25 and is still pending. The Seattle ATM or his designated representative has 14 days to accept or deny your request. I'm sure you will be hearing from them shortly.

Hope this settles your "major" problem....

...and all the automation works great...until it's broken.

Right now, it's broken...I'm furiously working as hard as I can to get the glitch found and repaired.

So PLEASE, everyone have a bit of patience...I'll note here and everywhere else I can find to announce when the problem is fixed.

I'm sorry Harold, none of us have administrative (or registered) privileges on the old VATUSA TS server.

While the theoretical discussion of this could go on and on with everyone making excellent points - we need to get back to an important point Todd made in his original post. That point being that the information he reflected is a bit off-the-beam...it's not incorrect per se, but this (and other areas) do need work to make them clearer and more concise without going overboard in complexity.

Todd thanks for the heads-up on this particular issue and please keep the cards and letters coming on stuff like this. I'm working on a re-vamp of the TRC in hopes it will become a more useful resource division-wide.

General Discussion / How do you politely tell someone to bugger off
« on: June 27, 2010, 04:48:59 PM »
Hi Marvin,

I've removed the poll from your forum post as the context speaks to more important issues than the simple set of results a poll might generate. As Harold has said, bringing the matter to the attention of the ARTCC staff or any Division staff member for investigation and resolution is the most appropriate approach to the problem.

Hi guys,

I've posted repeatedly that the VATUSA website IS NOT OPERATIONAL AT THIS TIME. Back-dooring into the site will not result in any success.

DO NOT submit any test results nor promotions and such as they will not process just yet.

I know you're anxious to move along with taking exams and whatever (as much as I'm anxious to get this move completed) but there is something on the order of 100,000+ plus files and alot of code needs to be updated to reflect the new site hosting environment.

With all that, we're about 98% there and should have the site fully operational in another day or so...

« on: May 07, 2010, 10:28:48 AM »
Hi Dev,

I just checked the VATUSA records and it looks like you have successfully joined the New York ARTCC (vZNY). You should be receiving a welcome email from them shortly. It will include instructions on how get started with your training in New York. Otherwise, you should visit their website at: http://www.nyartcc.org/ and familiarize yourself with their operations.

Regards,

Gary
