Pack the pattern from any direction or jam the FBOs with your singles, twins, biz jets, helicopters... whatever! Throw the kitchen sink at our controllers and don't be surprised if your downwind gets extended all the way down to the shoreline.

Events / [APR 10 2021, 1800z-2230z] Circle In on the Triangle
« on: March 12, 2021, 04:53:14 PM »

Go ahead and fully send yourself to the Bermuda triangle, hope for the best. We have no idea what lurks below.

Test your ocean procedures as you leave domestic boundaries and enter the offshore radar and non radar sectors as you head to New York Radio, into the unknown!

Depart: KIAD KORF KPHL KJFK KBOS.
Arrive into TXKF.

Advertising an ARRIVAL period of roughly 4pm to 6:30pm EDT (2000-2230z) So that means you probably should start launching from domestic between 2pm and 4:30pm EDT (1800z-2030z). Of course, we should be able to take any stragglers still trying to make it in to Bermuda a little bit later than this.

Events / [25 MAR 2021, 22z-01z] The New Haven Minutemen
« on: March 05, 2021, 07:23:56 PM »

Here we go, they are called minutemen because of their ability to be ready for action at a moment's notice. Are you going to be ready when the Tower tells you to make a right 360 cause there are 5 planes in the pattern with a Challenger on a 7 mile final? We know we will be!

Fly into the New Haven Airport as we staff it up for a spicy Thursday night in Southern Connecticut! Please PLEASE do not try flying your 777 in here... the runway is only 5,000 feet long guys!

As part of a semi-regular series known as Tower Tuesday/Thursday, we will staff a tower within ZNY every so often and ask you to jam it from all directions. Fly in IFR too, just to throw a wrench in the plans  ;D

Airport: KHVN Tweed-New Haven Airport
March 25th 2021 from 6PM - 9PM Eastern (2200z - 0100z)

Events / [24 JUL 2100z - 25 JUL 0300z] 30 Hours of EWR
« on: March 05, 2021, 06:57:41 PM »

ZNY Staffs: 30 Hours of EWR

Virtual New York ARTCC brings to you a continuously-covered ATC area of ZNY a few times a year. For this time around, we will staff the long-standing Newark Liberty International. EWR has come a long way from its 1930's days of hosting the first Airway Traffic Control Station with shrimp boats, and its days of being one of the first illuminated airfields from the real world. Now, it serves as a gatekeeper of the Hudson River for your flight sim desires. Whether it is through a center-rated controller, or through multiple controllers covering the Tower Cab, be assured that EWR will be serviced, so come on down from all directions.

ZNY Staffs: 30 Hours of EWR
Saturday 5:00pm EDT (2100z) through Sunday 11:00pm EDT (0300z)

Come on down the SFRA in your GA aircraft, take a helicopter out of the numerous heliports on the East and Hudson Rivers, or grab your airliner and attempt the Stadium or Bridge visuals to runway 29 (if the wind permits). Maybe try your hand at some of the close-quarters departure procedures. Don't forget to read those charts along with your aircraft setup!

Have fun :D

Manhattan Madness (LGA & HPN)

You wanted it? Well, you got it. The New York ARTCC proudly presents Manhattan Madness! Fly into either LaGuardia or Westchester and experience some of the most controlled madness you have ever experienced in your life! You can expect everything from late landing clearances, to gate holds, to in-air delays as both fields have low capacities and are notoriously difficult to manage on the ground.

Bring your commercial and biz jets as we staff up two of the most intense airports on the East Coast for a night of lengthy delays but a bangin' time here in New York's finest!

Airports: KLGA, KHPN
Date & Time: June 5th, 2021, 6PM - 10PM Eastern (2200z - 0200z)

This is what happens when we staff Stewart for our Tower Thursday. Bring everything you got and expect minimum time on the runway cause we don't have many gates and you might get spun. Bada bing bada boom welcome to New Yawk!

As part of a semi-regular series known as Tower Tuesday/Thursday, we will staff a tower within ZNY every so often and ask you to jam it from all directions. Fly in IFR too, just to throw a wrench in the plans  ;D

In the ZNY Regions event, we highlight areas of the New York ARTCC that are less-traveled and seldom-covered by the VATSIM community. This time around, we will feature the Elmira and Binghamton TRACONs situated in the Southern Tier region of NY State. The airspace 15 miles around ELM and 15 miles around BGM are both TRSAs (Terminal Radar Service Areas) which is almost like a class charlie without the regulatory requirements (participation in radar services optional but highly suggested to call the TRACON controllers for services since it is higher-density traffic). Of course, the airports themselves are class Deltas so those require two-way comms with ATC. Check the sectional charts for airspace dimensions.

We would like to encourage you (the traffic) to fly in from varying directions and converge on some of our towered fields in the ELM and BGM areas. And if you are feeling fancy with nothing else on your schedule, why not head back out again for another short hop within? Some suggestive flight ideas would be to start up north in the KPEO area and explore the finger lakes region heading towards ELM/BGM. Another idea is to start at either BGM or ELM and head south to pick up the Southern Tier Expressway or the Susquehanna River to the other field. The combination of airports and routes is up to your imagination.

Towered fields to aim for:

KELM - Elmira Corning Regional Airport
KBGM - Greater Binghamton Airport
KITH - Ithaca Tompkins International Airport

Non-Towered fields to discover:

KPEO - Penn Yan Airport
KCZG - Tri-Cities Airport
N03 - Cortland County Airport
N27 - Bradford County Airport

Events / [24 Jan 2021 2100-0100z] ZNY Regions: Hershey Valley Fly-In
« on: December 24, 2020, 01:09:40 AM »

In the ZNY Regions event, we highlight areas of the New York ARTCC that are less-traveled and seldom-covered by the VATSIM community. This time around, we will feature the Harrisburg TRACON and immediate region. This facility is one of the larger ones in ZNY geographically-speaking, so there is ample opportunity to remain within one controller’s coverage for longer if you choose your routes correctly, making the ATC frequency a bit busy and more interesting. The airspace roughly 10-20 miles around MDT & CXY is a TRSA (Terminal Radar Service Area) which is almost like a class charlie without the regulatory requirements (highly suggested to call the TRACON controllers for services since it is higher-density traffic). Of course, the airports themselves are class Deltas so those require two-way comms with controller. Check the sectional charts for airspace dimensions.

We would like to encourage you (the traffic) to fly in from varying directions and converge on some of our towered fields in the MDT area. And if you are feeling fancy with nothing else on your schedule, why not head back out again for another short hop within? Washington D.C, Pittsburgh, and NYC areas offer nice little hops in regional jets. The choice is yours.

Towered fields to aim for:

KMDT - Harrisburg International
KCXY - Capital City Airport
KLNS - Lancaster Airport
KMUI - Muir Army Airfield

Non-Towered fields to discover:

KTHV - York Airport
KZER - Schuylkill County Airport
KSEG - Penn Valley Airport
N68 - Franklin County Regional Airport
N71 - Donegal Springs Airpark
N79 - Northumberland County Airport
N94 - Carlisle Airport

Events / [14 Jan 2021 2330-0400z] ZNY's Tower Thursday: TTN Trenton-Mercer
« on: December 24, 2020, 12:52:27 AM »

ZNY is hosting our first Tower-centric event in a long time on Thursday January 14 from 6:30pm to 11pm EST (2330z-0400z). Pack the Trenton-Mercer pattern KTTN as well as you can from all directions. Suggested to either start at TTN and request pattern work or depart IFR/VFR, or start from any of the close-in airports within 10-20 miles and enter the Trenton pattern from the outside at places like:

KPNE - Northeast Philadelphia Airport-
N87 - Trenton-Robbinsville Airport
39N - Princeton Airport
KDYL - Doylestown Airport

Basically, just buzz around KTTN for as long as you can, making the controllers earn their pay. Potentially, start from a little further away and request flight following from Philadelphia Approach, New York Approach, or Allentown Approach.

Virtual New York ARTCC brings to you a continuously-covered ATC area of ZNY four times a year. For this first time around, we will staff the venerable LaGuardia Airport. It has sometimes been referred to as the aircraft carrier due to its location and runway lengths. Whether it is through a center-rated controller, or through multiple controllers covering the Tower Cab, be assured that LGA will be serviced for your challenging airport desires.

ZNY Staffs: 30 Hours of LGA
Saturday 12:00pm ET (1700z) through Sunday 6:00pm ET (2300z)

Come on down the SFRA in your GA aircraft, take a helicopter out of the numerous heliports on the East and Hudson Rivers, or grab your airliner and attempt the Expressway Visual 31 (if the wind permits). Maybe try your hand at some of the complex departure procedures. Don't forget to read those charts along with your aircraft setup!

Long Island Loop
Friday, November 27th
2:00pm-5:00pm EST (1900z-2200z)
KFRG, KISP, KFOK, 23N
Hosted By: @Mike Cinnante - N124MC

Virtual USA Flying Club is happy to once again partner with NYARTCC for another general aviation event. There will be full ATC coverage. We’ll be taking our favorite aircraft for a lovely November afternoon loop around Long Island. Now that you’ll be fully digested from your Thanksgiving feast, leave the Black Friday crowds in the dust with nothing but the smell of AvGas as we fly between Farmingdale Republic KFRG, Long Island MacArthur KISP, West Hampton Gabreski KFOK, and the official home of the flying club; Bayport 23N.

Members may choose one of 2 loops:

1. KFRG-23N-KFOK-KISP-KFRG

2. KFOK-KISP-KFRG-23N-KFOK

Club members may fly whichever aircraft they wish for the event (nothing too big or too fast please), and are asked to make a full stop landing for each leg. Let’s show our friends at NYARTCC some GA love!

Giveaway:
We will do a gift card giveaway for this event. One participating club member will win a $50 Amazon gift card courtesy of Mike Cinnante. To be eligible to win, you must be a confirmed Virtual USA Flying Club member and complete one of the full loops during the event time.

Turkey day is coming and in celebration of Thanksgiving we are inviting all Virtual USA pilots to fly in where the original Thanksgiving happened: Plymouth, Massachusetts. You can start from any airport you would like to and fly into KPYM Plymouth Municipal Airport between the hours of 7:00pm - 9:30PM EST (0000z-0230z). You can fly whatever time you want in the sim but with day settings, you will be able to check out the sites. You can also explore the New England area and then land at KPYM for your final destination as it is very scenic on Cape Cod and there are some islands you can fly into such as KBID Block Island State airport, KMVY Martha’s Vineyard Airport, and KACK Nantucket Memorial Airport. Feel free to also take a scenic tour of Providence, Rhode Island, the mansions of Newport, Rhode Island and if you’re daring, brave the Boston class B airspace to check out Boston.

Club members are welcome to bring any General Aviation aircraft they would like to visit Plymouth.  If you are departing from a more remote airport, take something that is a little faster. If you want to check out some sites, take something slower. Work up your appetite for the Thanksgiving feast on Thursday.
