Position Opening: Fort Worth ARTCC Deputy Air Traffic Manager

Position: Deputy Air Traffic Manager
Location: Fort Worth ARTCC (ZFW)
Time Commitment: 4 to 8 hours per week+, and required monthly controller hours to maintain ARTCC membership.
Supervisor: Fort Worth ARTCC ATM
Application Deadline: Closes February 16th, 2018 at 23:59z

ZFW is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Deputy Air Traffic Manager at the Fort Worth ARTCC.  This position is not an entry-level position and will require significant time commitments to effectively perform the duties of Deputy Air Traffic Manager.

Duties of the DATM:

- Serves as the assistant to the ATM
- Serves as the Air Traffic Manager in the absence of the ATM
- Serves at the request of the ATM and may be removed from the position at any time provided there is ample justification for removal
- Oversees the day to day operations of the ARTCC
- Manages the VATUSA and ARTCC rosters
- Welcomes new members to the ARTCC
- Other duties as assigned by the Air Traffic Manager and/or VATUSA Staff

Minimum Requirements:

- Must hold at least a Controller 1 (C1) rating or higher
- Member of the vZFW ARTCC, either as a visitor or home controller, for at least 6 months (requirement may be waived at the discretion of the ATM)
- Must control at least the minimum number of hours required by the ARTCC Standard Operating Procedures
- Must be an active member of the network, in good standing
- Must not have received any disciplinary action in the last 6 months.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment

Highly Desired Skills:

- Demonstrates qualities of understanding, patience, and maturity.
- Understands the position requires CONSIDERABLE commitment of time.
- Prior ARTCC Staff experience.
- Prior or current Instructor or Mentor experience.
- Experience effectively managing others through effective leadership practices.
- Real world management experience.
