« on: September 23, 2022, 09:42:42 AM »
The Anchorage ARTCC and Honolulu Control Facility are happy to announce the selection of Grant Williams as our new Events Coordinator.  Grant brings with him a wealth of current and past experience planning events on VATSIM, including being the former Assistant EC for PCF.  For the time being Grant will plan and execute events for both ZAN and HCF.  The goal is for each facility to eventually have its own EC but for now Grant will cover both.  We look forward to seeing what kinds of exciting events Grant will be putting together for our airspaces!

There's still much work to be done with the site, so keep watching us, but for now it's functional enough to be used by our controllers.

ZLC Seeks Events Coordinator

The Salt Lake City ARTCC (ZLC) is now accepting applications for the position of Events Coordinator

Duties:
*Reports to the ZLC staff (ATM, DATM, TA) and the VATUSA Traffic Management Unit (TMU) as required
*Creates plans, manages, and executes events to generate pilot and controller participation while promoting ZLC
*Coordinates with neighboring facilities to arrange support for ZLC events and arranges ZLC support for events held by our neighboring facilities
*Maintains active relationship with virtual airlines, coordinates for VA-hosted events affecting ZLC airspace
*Develops and distributes marketing materials to promote events and the ZLC ARTCC
*Attends staff meetings as called by the ZLC senior staff or by VATUSA relating to events, schedule permitting of course.
*Maintains active online presence on the ZLC website, ZLC Discord, VATUSA Forum, VATUSA Discord Server and the VATSIM network

Core Requirements:
*Be an active member of the network in good standing.
*A VATSIM rating of S3 or above is strongly preferred
*Maintain active membership and home controller proficiency and currency.
*Current or recent experience working in the ZLC ARTCC.  Obviously, if the selected candidate is not a current ZLC home controller they would need to transfer to ZLC.  Therefore because of the restrictions regarding transfers, if the selected candidate must transfer to ZLC they must meet the requirements to submit a transfer on the VATUSA website.
*Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Be able to work in a team environment.
*Have no disciplinary history or record of unprofessional behavior.
*Have experience with an image editor such as Photoshop or GIMP.
*Have a strong interest in helping ZLC become better and more active
*Be available to work events relating to ZLC (either ours or a neighbor's) as a controller and/or facility TMU, schedule permitting of course.

Desired Background:
*Previous experience on VATSIM as an Events Coordinator for an ARTCC would be extremely beneficial
*OR previous experience as an Events Coordinator for a Virtual Airline
*OR previous experience in the planning and execution of group activities (real-world applications or virtual)

What to expect as an Events Coordinator:
An Events Coordinator for an ARTCC on VATSIM needs to be enthusiastic and engaged and able to handle multiple event planning situations, such as creating the events page, soliciting ZLC controllers as to what positions they want to work and then assigning them as needed, interfacing with ZLC's neighbors so everyone is informed about and involved in the planning of upcoming events that would impact ZLC or it's neighbors, acting as TMU for ZLC to laision between ZLC and VATUSA prior to and during events, and of course working during the event, and fulfilling the requirements for being an active ZLC controller.

While being an EC is not a "full time job", and there may be some periods where there isn't a lot of activity, it is by no means an "entry level position".  Yes, it's a good first step if you want to become involved in ARTCC management on VATSIM, but it's not just a title next to your Discord name.  The selected candidate will be expected to be an active and integral part of ZLC and should expect a significant time commitment will be required.

How to apply:
Please submit an application to [email protected]Applications will be accepted until 2359Z on November 23, 2020 with the following information
Name
Email Address
VATSIM CID
A resume detailing your qualifications for the position, the reasons for your interest, and your plans and ideas should you be selected for the job

Thanks for your interest

General Discussion / ZBW Notam
« on: August 04, 2009, 03:18:44 PM »
First off, and no offense intended towards anyone, but was the mass "NOTAM" email about the ZBW ATM position really necessary?  There aren't mass "NOTAM" emails sent out about all the other ARTCC positions that open up in VATUSA.

Secondly, and this is what really has me annoyed, has anyone had trouble with the above mentioned email?  I received 2 copies of it.  One I was able to delete, the other I wasn't.  The second email can't be opened, moved, or deleted.  When I try I get "An Unknown Error Has Occurred".  Anyone else having this issue?
