[01 Dec 2023 2359-0400z] 2023 Winter Kickoff FNO
« on: October 04, 2023, 05:09:41 PM »

Join us for a longstanding tradition that has warmed the hearts of our New England Controllers since the mid-2010s! The 2023 Winter Kickoff FNO is set within the captivating Boston Virtual ARTCC airspace, featuring airports of Bradley Intl. (BDL), Portland Intl. Jetport (PWM), and Boston Logan Intl. (BOS). Brace yourself for an evening of icy challenges and frosty fun as we navigate the winter storms of New England. Explore the stunning winter wonderland (hopefully) as you fly throughout the Boston airspace. Embrace the thrill of winter storm operations, putting your piloting skills to the ultimate test. Experience the magic of snow-covered runways, de-icing procedures, and air traffic management during challenging weather conditions. Be captivated by our event banner featuring the iconic John Hancock Tower, illuminated against the winter night sky - an unreal photo taken from one of our great members. Boston continues to be a beacon home for so many within our community and we can not wait to celebrate with all of you!  Whether you're a seasoned VATSIM veteran or a "newbie*" looking to spread your virtual wings, the 2023 Winter Kickoff FNO promises an unforgettable evening of camaraderie and adventure. Mark your calendars, set your altimeters, and be prepared for a frosty flight like no other! We can't wait to see you there.

Event Fields: KBDL, KPWM, & KBOS
Date & Time: December 1st 2023, 7:00pm → 11:00pm (2359z - 0400z)

Concurrently, ZBW will be hosting the 60 Hours of BVARTCC event. This is a one of a kind ATC marathon event! Boston Center will be staffed continuously for 60 hours throughout the weekend in December. Please check the event posting for details.

* - "Newbies" are highly encouraged to fly into Bradley and Portland during the event window and to check out our introductory flights as part of our WINGS program! This weekend is a great time to enjoy BVA's series of self-paced challenge flights designed to teach safe operations of virtual aircraft within the online air traffic system.
