Hi, everyone,

Is there some sort of "Introduction" thread? Just wanted to say hi to all; I'm the new guy.

Not that I know of. Just post it under the General Discussion.

Virtual Airlines / American Virtual Airlines - 10th Anniversary
« on: June 04, 2011, 05:37:05 AM »
This event will be starting in a matter of hours. This will be one of the BIGGEST VATSIM-VA (hosted) events to date. American Virtual Airlines is expecting more than 120 aircraft movements from our VA alone, not including all other VAs from North America, South America, Oceanic, and Europe; that were invited. We expect the event to last until 0200z for their turn-around flight back to their hubs. Departures and Arrivals at KDFW will be vast! ARTCCs involved can expect a pretty good number of movements within their airspace this evening.

See you there!

American Virtual Airlines Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary – Celebration Announcement

American Virtual Airlines (AvA) is celebrating its 10th Anniversary on VATSIM throughout the
month of June. We invite all virtual airlines to join in this celebration. Our celebration kicks off
with an open house on Saturday, June 4. AvA pilots will be departing from AA hubs to arrive
in our home at Dallas/Fort Worth between 2200z-0200z. Our fellow virtual airlines are invited
to fly from their respective hubs into DFW to arrive during that time. We are expecting full ATC
from our amazing partners at DFW ARTCC. Following the arrival, pilots are then encouraged
to turn their aircraft and continue to a destination of their choice. Come join us for this huge
celebration!

American Virtual Airlines was formed on June 1, 2001 and was was one of the first virtual
airlines to join VATSIM. Since that time, AvA has become one of the premier VATSIM-only
virtual airline with nearly 500 active pilots who fly over 100,000 hours yearly. AvA has pilot
hubs in Los Angeles, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago O’Hare, Boston, Miami, New York, and San
Juan and flies a huge range of current aircraft to include the Embraer, Candair CRJ-700, ATR-72,
MD-80, 737, 757, 767, and 777.

If you are interested in flying with a great group of folks and want a virtual airline that
understands why you fly, check us out at joinava.org.

See you there!

Wow, that's a really impressive build I must say! Check out http://joinava.org - they're always hiring a 738 jockey like yourself.

Use your VATSIM ID as your username and your VATSIM password as your password to gain access. If this won't work, submit a ticket.

Welcome to VATSIM!

The Control Room Floor / Vrc voice issues
« on: March 01, 2011, 05:41:31 AM »
This kind of stuff shouldn't even be taught at all. The documentation is publicly available, it is not rocket science complicated too! Very straight forward and easy to comprehend.

When people ask to teach them how to fly the PMDG, the pros would always say "RTFM" I wonder what's the difference between the PMDG and VRC when both are software that has documentations available online. It just needs to be utilized, clearly not everyone has the initiative to read it first, especially those who really need it. Teaching basic VRC operations over and over and over and over and over again is just a complete waste of training resource when an online documentation (a comprehensive one too!) is available.

General Discussion / Visiting Controller from another Division
« on: December 17, 2010, 06:33:22 AM »
Disregard. I just realized that this person is a previous VATUSA member from ZMA so I guess that kind of in a way kept his account on the VATUSA website that allowed him to take an exam without prior signing up from the visiting controller form.

This is interesting Gary. I was under the impression that a member needs to join through that portal in order to take an exam from our exam center, however one of my visiting controller (from Asia) was accidentally assigned the exam from the Exam Center directly without him enlisting in this Visiting Controller sign up page. When I asked him, he confirmed that he was able to take the exam.

Last thing, is this link found somewhere on the VATUSA website?

The last time I tried to point a visiting applicant to this link told me that its 'not working' (after he entered his CID and password) I wonder why tho.

Thanks!
