In the Regional Circuit, controllers fully staff two regional airports, providing complete 'gate-to-gate' coverage over this special four-hour event. The focus airports are typically 80-200nm apart, and a high volume of pilots operating in this compressed airspace means the Regional Circuit provides optimal conditions for congested frequencies and busy airways.

Events / Farewell K90 TRACON [11FEB 1900-2300 z]
« on: November 05, 2017, 12:19:25 PM »

February 11th marks the final day of operation for the K90 CAPE TRACON, which will be consolidated into Boston Consolidated TRACON (A90) at 6am ET. While most of the procedures will remain the same, the old "Cape Approach" will be gone from the radios, to be replaced with "Boston Approach." Join the Boston Virtual ARTCC on February 11th, 2018, from 1900-2300z (1400-1800 ET) to celebrate the legacy of the CAPE TRACON, and the (further) consolidation of the Boston TRACON! We'll have Cape Cod staffed to the gills, including Nantucket (ACK), Martha's Vineyard (MVY), Hyannis-Barnstable (HYA) and the Cape Cod Coast Guard Air Station (FMH), and multiple sectors of "Boston" Approach.

Take a day off from your busy routine and drive out to your local hangar to knock the cobwebs off your favorite General Aviation (GA) aircraft...anything from a single piston engine Cessna to a twin-jet Citation.

Then, join the rest of the BVA Community for the GA Fly-In, which will visit different parts of the country famous for their scenery and general aviation presence.  Look for several local (Tower) controllers at many Class C and D airports staffed under one Approach or Center controller. Pilots are encouraged to fly IFR or VFR between the featured airports, or fly into the event from afar!

Set the parking brake on the airliner and knock the cobwebs off your favorite general aviation aircraft! The General Aviation Fly-In visits locales across the ZBW airspace that are famous for their scenery and general aviation influence. While anything from a single engine Cessna to a small corporate jet is welcome in this event, ‘low and slow’ offers the best opportunity to experience the scenery.
