News / ZME Seeking an Events Coordinator

The Memphis ARTCC is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Events Coordinator. Those seeking to apply should read all applicable responsibilities and requirements below.

Job Description:

The Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and execution of events at the facility. The Events Coordinator position requires a considerable time commitment to include up to 5 hours per week executing assigned duties.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Reports to the DATM.
- Lead the events team to provide support for ZME event operations.
- Identifies and develops events to generate traffic and promote the facility.
- Implements and oversees approved events.
- Works closely with the training department to prepare our members for event positions.
- Coordinates with neighboring facilities to arrange support for ZME hosted events and neighboring events.
- Coordinates with VATUSA Command Center for event planning, traffic expectations, event execution, and debrief.
- Develops and distributes marketing materials to promote events and the facility.

Minimum Requirements:

 - Must hold at least an S3 Rating.
 - Must have no disciplinary record with VATSIM, VATUSA, or ZME ARTCC within the last two years.
 - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills as this is a client-facing position.

Desired Qualifications:

 - C1+ Preferred
 - Knowledge of the ZME airspace and typical traffic loads in various event situations
 - Experience/talent in graphic design, typography, etc.
 - Experience with event planning of any type

   - Event proposal for ZME. The event proposal must include the following minimum items: Event banner, Focus field(s), Proposed positions, possible dates, proposed Traffic Management Initiatives, and any other pertinent information.

The Memphis ARTCC (ZME) is seeking a qualified, professional, and motivated individual that possesses a high degree of energy and commitment to serve as the Facilities Engineer.

Deadline
This posting will expire on 10/4/2022 at 2359z. Late applications will not be considered.


Key Responsibilities
•   Reports to the DATM and ATM when necessary
•   Maintains and updates sector files for VRC, vSTARS, and vERAM
•   Maintains vATIS configuration files
•   Maintains POF and alias files
•   Performs other facility related work as directed by the Senior Staff
•   Maintains an online presence on the VATSIM network
•   Attends periodic meetings to report on ARTCC activities

Minimum Requirements
•   Currently hold a rating of S2 or higher for at least 90 days prior to application date
•   Have knowledge working with VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, and vATIS
•   Work well in a team-oriented environment
•   Demonstrate excellent leadership skills
•   Be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no significant disciplinary history in the last 12 months
•   Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
•   Previous or current FE experience
•   Currently hold a rating of S3 or higher
•   Supervisory or management experience in virtual or real world
•   Have knowledge working with ASE to create TWR Trainer and Euroscope training files

What to expect
This is an entry-level position. The workload is moderate, with heavy peaks after periodic AIRAC and procedure updates. Only those candidates who understand the requirements and can make the appropriate commitment should apply. Candidates can expect an initial evaluation of their application after which they may be contacted for a comprehensive interview. All candidates who apply and who meet the minimum requirements can expect to be interviewed for this posting. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Every spring, the Kentucky Derby kicks off the Triple Crown, a group of horse races that forms the 3 biggest horse races in the United States. Following the Kentucky Derby, the horses and fans come to Baltimore, Maryland to watch the second of the three races, the Preakness Stakes. Join ZDC on May 14th as we staff up Baltimore-Washington International airport (BWI) from 2300-0300z for the Preakness Stakes Fly-In. After you land, head over to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore to watch the 147th annual Preakness Stakes. Will there be a triple crown winner this year? Join us at the Preakness to find out!

The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, or the B&O Railroad was the first common carrier railroad and the oldest railroad in the United States, with its first section opening in 1830. During the Civil War, the B&O Railroad served as the Union's lifeline and supply chain. At the end of 1970, the B&O operated 5,552 miles of road and 10,449 miles of track, which connected the Great Lakes with the Chesapeake Bay.
