VATUSA Position Vacancy Announcement

Position: Air Traffic Manager
Location: Cleveland ARTCC (ZOB)
Time Commitment: 4 to 8 hours per week+, and required monthly controller hours to maintain facility membership
Supervisor: Northeast Region Air Traffic Director (ATD)
Application Deadline: Closes February 2nd, 2020 23:59z

VATUSA is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Air Traffic Manager at the Cleveland ARTCC.  This position is not an entry-level position and will require significant time commitments to effectively perform the duties of Air Traffic Manager.

Duties of the ATM:

- Reports to the Northeast Region Air Traffic Director and directs the operations and management of the assigned facility
- Must maintain an online presence on the VATSIM network
- Maintains facility website and TeamSpeak/Discord
- Drafts facility SOPs, LOAs and other appropriate documents; seeks ATD approval for the same
- Ensures facility SOPs, LOAs and other appropriate documents are readily available for viewing/download
- Functions as VATUSA staff member and attends meetings as necessary to discuss and stay current with region and division issues, policies, and initiatives
- Manages and defines the duties of facility staff; submits selection of Deputy ATM and Webmaster to the ATD for final approval; submits selection of Training Administrator to the ATD and Training Director for final approval
- Provides guidance and help to assigned controllers; may establish a staff of "Mentors" to assist with training
- Works with or delegates a liaison to work with region/division-level Event Coordinators on events as necessary
- Addresses disciplinary situations with the ATD when appropriate

Minimum Requirements:

- Possess a high degree of energy and commitment appropriate to the requirements of the position
- Must have at least a Controller (C1) rating
- Must be an active member of the network in good standing
- Must be able to work in a team environment and function as a team member
- Have no significant disciplinary record, no history of unprofessional behavior

Highly Desired Skills:

- Demonstrates qualities of understanding, patience, and maturity.
- Understands the role of the facility and facility staff within the Northeast Region, VATUSA, and VATNA
- Understands the position requires CONSIDERABLE commitment of time
- Prior facility Senior Staff experience
- Prior or current Instructor or Mentor experience
- Experience effectively managing others through good leadership practices
- Real world management experience

- Have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Skills

Purpose
The Honolulu Control Facility (HCF)  is currently seeking a Webmaster who will provide effective management and leadership our facilities data services, including but not limited to web content development and delivery, web services, email systems.

Key Responsibilities:
-   Report to HCF Air Traffic Manager and Deputy Air Traffic Manager
-   Develops, Manages and oversees HCF Teamspeak, HCF Discord, Web Services, IAPs, E-mail and Voice Server, etc;
-   Must respond reasonably and quickly to web site and data systems needs
-   Develops and implements policies and procedures for operation and maintenance of the ARTCC new web and data systems
-   Other duties as assigned by ATM/DATM.
-   Select an assistant as needed.
-   Functions as an Administrator and staff member to attend meetings are needed.


Requirements
-   Must be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with a with no history of unethical practices or misuse of technology.
-   An active member of HCF or willing to transfer to HCF if selected;
-   Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
-   Must be proficient with modern web programming languages and techniques, including PHP Object Oriented Programming, HTML, PHP/MySQL, CSS
-   Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Skills
-   Demonstrated custom web programming skills and expertise.

-   Familiarity with APIs for other applications (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

Duties
*Reports to HCF Senior Staff (ATM, DATM) and the VATUSA Events Manager/VA Liaison (VATUSA5)
*Creates, plans, manages and executes events to generate pilot and controller participation while promoting HCF
*Coordinates with neighboring facilities to arrange support for HCF events and arranges HCF support for events held by neighboring facilities
*Maintains active relationships with virtual airlines, coordinates for VA-hosted events affecting HCF's airspace
*Develops and distributes marketing materials to promote events and HCF
*Attends staff meetings as called by the senior staff
*Maintains active online presence on the HCF website, TeamSpeak, VATUSA Forum and the VATSIM network
