Trick-Or-TRACON [OCT 29 1800-2100z]
« on: July 30, 2017, 02:49:11 PM »

Fort Worth ARTCC presents Tick-or-TRACON! An event aimed at local traffic where Fort Worth's finest staff up the Regional Approach area airports! Make your rounds and stop at as many of the 11 staffed airports (listed below) as you can!

Here's the twist! Like Trick-Or-Treating, there's always that ONE unknown house that has the BEST candy! We will be giving away (3) A2A simulations products randomly to 3 pilots who fly FULL STOP TO AND FROM a featured airport. The secret airport will be randomly selected from event airports all listed below. You will be notified if you are one of the winners during the event!

Pilots please be sure to brush up on your VFR operations, pattern flying skills, and use www.skyvector.com to navigate your way around the scary DFW Class Bravo airspace as this event is going to pure scary!

Featured Fields - NOTE: DFW is NOT a featured airport
KDTO - Denton Class Delta
KAFW - Alliance Class Delta
KFTW - Fort Woth Meacham Class Delta
KNFW - Fort Worth Navy Class Delta
KFWS - Fort Worth Spinks Class Delta
KGKY - Arlington Class Delta
KADS - Adison Class Delta
KRBD - Redbird Class Delta
KHQZ - Mesquite Class Delta

A touch-and-go counts, or a full-stop only?

I'm gonna try to touch 'em all, if not for the prize, then at least for the bragging rights... ;-)

LOL, I noticed that; thanks!

Just for anyone else who wants to join us, VATSTAR is advertising this event to its members as both an effort to scare up as many GA flying fans as we can, as well as a celebration of our pending 600th Pilot Rating certification.  To date we have conferred 597 VATSIM Pilot Ratings and expect our 600th to occur during the coming week.  We had a nice turnout for our 2nd Anniversary flight in June and many of them said we should organize more GA-oriented events, so we figured we'd piggy-back off of this one and try to help make it nice and busy.  And if one of our members happens to win one of the prizes, all the better, LOL!  Looking forward to a great event!
Cheers,
-R.

Looking like nice weather for today -- looking forward to it!

I was originally gonna fly the default Mooney Bravo (my single-engine eggbeater of choice) but I'm thinking I may challenge myself a bit and bring the Charles "Dutch" Owen variation of the DC3.  Just like the real thing, you really have to baby those engines to keep them from burning up -- and with all those takeoff and landing cycles to manage, it'll be interesting to see if I still have two spinning propellers at the end.  ;-)
Cheers,
-R.

Great work to all today! Saw over 80 operations in 3 hours.

Our secret airports were: KRBD, KNFW and KDTO for each of the 3 event hours in order.
Congrats to our winners Marvin, Rhett, and Jonathan and thanks for participating yall!

You guys did a really nice job with that.  That was a lot of fun, and the "trick-or-treat" motif was fantastically conceived and implemented!

It also seemed like there was a good response to it -- there was a good amount of traffic in and out everywhere I stopped, which was Love Field, Addison, McKinney, Mesquite, Executive, and Arlington.  (And I only bent the airplane a little on the last landing, haha!)  Additionally, VATSTAR had a pretty nice turnout to the event, and I'm also proud to say that two of the three winners were VATSTAR members -- so, our good turnout was rewarded!  :-)

Thanks again!  Hope to see another event like this soon!
Cheers,
-R.

It was a ton of fun.  Guess I am glad I went to Redbird first instead of going the other way around.  Looking forward to doing another fun fly-in like this again in the future.

I used tacview for the flight analysis it was made by the DCS guys for their are combat
it has a fsx plugin that records flight data
then I updated the terrain elevation and got the world VFR texture form skyvector
recorded some nice looking views on OBS and edit and music on lightworks

I only have the free version of lightworks witch limits the output file to 720p and the potato quality youtube video

I wasn't able to make it today.  None the less I wanted to say thank you for both creating a GA focused event, and hosting the event during the daylight hours.  That is great outreach to the GA population, and I hope it went great.
