VATUSA conducts training and certification for, and administers Oakland Oceanic, in agreement with the Pacific Oceanic Partnership, which maintains a roster of those certified.
Any C1 controller wishing to control the Guam FIR can contact me.

Virtual Airlines / Virtual United Airlines
« on: May 11, 2012, 09:42:56 AM »
Virtual United Airlines (VUAL) celebrated its one year anniversary May 6th, 2012. VUAL began Operational planning in October 2010 and opened its doors in May 2011. In just one year the VA has grown to over 140 pilots flying from our six mainline hubs.

VUAL is run by a group of veteran VATSIM pilots, who believe that flight simulation is a hobby, therefore, we do not have check rides. The whole purpose is to have fun! We are an established VATSIM ATO, and our roster is filled with instructors who can help beginners and flighsim veterans learn more about flying.

With over 9,000 flights, our real-world United and Star Alliance schedule provides incredible variety and flexibility for our pilots. Flight reports can filed using any of our five different PIREP systems. We have an active forum and Teamspeak lounge for our pilots and staff to discuss their latest flights and get to know each other better.

If you are looking for a VA where the focus is to fly and enjoy being with like minded flight simulator enthusiasts, then check us out at www.virtualunitedairlines.org. You are not a number, you are family.

The Classroom (Controller Tips) / Controlling the Arrivals
« on: February 23, 2012, 05:38:07 PM »

I've done it from further out... aka, before the aircraft even got onto the arrival.

"Cleared direct SMFIX.  Pilots discretion, descend to cross SMFIX at or above 6000, then cleared (approach) runway (runway)."  There is technically nothing wrong with it.  It's especially useful if you're really busy, they're RNAV equipped, and they are going to a semi-satellite field.

There are more important things to be "upset" about versus a controller's technique of pulling you off a STAR early.

Apparently you didn't read the whole thing Daniel, he said especially when it is slow and there is no reason for it.  Being really busy is understood.

General Discussion / Do you know what would be cool

I think it would be easier if you chose two different push to talk keys.  I use right Ctrl for teamspeak and left Ctrl for VRC and flying online.

The Flight Deck / confused a bit about non controlled airports..
« on: January 26, 2012, 11:21:54 PM »
Not only that but for some reason, for those who use squawkbox, they can not hear or communicate via voice on UNICOMM no matter what server they are on.

And remember, although FSInn allows you to use voice on UNICOMM, it is against the rules on VATSIM.  All Unicomm transmissions must be done in text only.

Simple Insanity / Typical, typical...

In a rapid response to the U.S. announcement, DGAC, the French Civil Aviation Authority announced that it was in direct opposition to the new U.S. policy, primarily because they are the French and are basically against everything. DGAC went on to say that all commercial pilots who believed it was their given right to crash would be welcome to fly under French authority. No experience necessary, and Airbus pilots are especially preferred.

The French are against anything the United States does, how soon they forget if it wasn't for us, they would be Germany!
