General Discussion / Re: A Controllers Reminder and Request
« on: April 16, 2020, 05:13:07 PM »
Great post, Mike.

I would like to add for any pilots around, radio checks are unnecessary unless you suspect an actual problem. Maybe it's AFV, maybe it's something else, but the last center session I did nearly every pilot called for a radio check before their actual request.

Just make the request!

Im getting quite a few hot mics lately as well, not sure whats going on there.

Thanks to all those pilots who joined us for the event this evening, we had a great time here at ZOA - a few hiccups along the way but we saw some big numbers for traffic that we didn't even predict so had to adjust on the fly. Enjoy your weekend, our controllers will be having a much needed break.

Fresno Anyone? Alright... lets go!
Kicking off this March 27th, we are opening the airspace to all that choose to dare as we head into Fresno!

Fresno you say what is this? Well come by and see its marvelous beauty in all she has to offer. Oh and we paired it up with Reno just to make it twice as fun. With that you can have that Reno/Fresno combo, it's an absolute delight.

We hope to see you there.

Details;
Airfields - KFAT (Fresno), KRNO (Reno Tahoe), KSJC (San Jose Int.)
Date - 27th March 2020
Time - 4pm PST - 8pm PST (2300z - 0300z)

@Antony - nope, not me.  Southwest off at Echo.

Oh the poor Alaska that got off at Lima took far too long to bring him in. Glad you had fun, all the controllers had a good time.

Just wanted to say thanks for a great FNO.  I even didn't mind the 32 minute wait to get into my gate or the 1:22 wait to get out of KLAX (much :) ).  Was a fun time, everyone did a great job.  Thanks for another great Friday night on VATSIM!

Wait, we’re you the Alaska I think that turned left off at Lima ? (SFO)

Well, we are here - didnt that come fast? Hope everyone enjoys themselves. Be patient and enjoy the ride!

Our FNO's are usually busy, so always pays to plan a little extra fuel. Hour and half is a good number.

In world where, you are the captain… where frames are your enemy, weather dictates your flightpath and the flight levels are not the quiet oasis you once knew them to be.
Two, ARTCC’s stand together… united in their quest for the ultimate symphony of planes and controllers alike.
In their quest they will discover what it means to re-route an aircraft to its destination, and how ground delays will become their ultimate enemy.
Please join us, for the first time this decade, Oakland ARTCC and Los Angeles ARTCC combine their forces to tackle delays, intercept localizers and launch you off the 1s before an A380 lands on the 28s.
This momentous occasion is not one to miss, so be sure to book your calendars and have your preflight done.

« on: November 22, 2019, 04:05:43 AM »

This is an event for our S1/S2 controllers to give them some more exposure to high levels of traffic, so if you are a new pilot or a 40 year veteran im sure you could give these lads a hand. GA traffic preferred, although we love abit of IFR work to test the lads out on those clearances.

Details;
Airports - MRY / SNS
Time - 6pm PDT - 8pm PDT | 0200z - 0400z
Traffic - VFR/IFR
Details - Don't forget to pay your landing fees + tip your controller
