So, whilst working Fort Worth Center, had an AAL behind another AAL. The second AAL was holding short of the runway.

FTW_CTR: AALxxx, Rwy 35L, line up and wait.
AALxxx: Okay, we're holding short and we're parked at the gate

Don't know how we got "parked at the gate" out of line up and wait but...

Welcome to VATUSA! The system usually processes registration requests within 24 hours. If it has not been 24 hours since you registered to VATUSA, it will probably be up for you by tonight.

Fort Worth can really get hot in the summer! It is that time of the year - where we heat up KDFW to its limits! Fly in or fly out, and heat up our airspace!

Join the ZFW ARTCC as we staff up most of our D10 TRACON for a great night of fun. Starting at 2200z and ending at 0030z, we will staff the Dallas International Airport (KDFW), Dallas Love Airport (KDAL), and Fort Worth Alliance (KAFW). Whether you bring your super A380 or one engine prop, our controllers are ready for you. So what do you say - come out and join the fun!

Hello,

My name is Mia, and I love listening to live ATC and thought I try my hand at it! I was curious how can I learn to be a good ATC, I am planning on observing but terrified of actually contemplating guiding planes. Any tips for a beginner to be clear and understanding to all pilots? Any good habits to have?

Mia

Welcome to VATUSA! I always got taught that patience is the key, and that's how it really is. If you have a pilot that seems to not understand what you're saying or doesn't really know how to execute your command, give them a bit of time. Sometimes you may need to explain a procedure to a pilot. Whether it is breaking down a takeoff clearance to allow the pilot to comprehend your instructions or just simply being friendly and helping them out, there are tons of ways that you can put a smile on a frustrated pilot's face. Who knows, you may be able to teach them some things that they didn't know before, either!

Hope that makes sense.

Hmmmm....if memory serves me correct (which I admit isn't always the case) I seem to recall an announcement about a year ago at this time regarding VATUSA joining forces with the FAA to provide ATC services during sequestation. I'm still waiting to see what facilties we're being assigned to...........Let me check, yep still 4/1/14.

I'm going to open another beer.

Hahaha, best way to put it, Ken.

Hello everyone! My name is Eric Kollat and I am the Director of Events for Virtual United.

We are inviting the Flight Simulation community to come out on the evening of Saturday, August 17, 2013 on our conference TeamSpeak to hear what flight simulation organizations and even real world pilots have to say about their daily operations. Organizations speaking will consist of Aerosoft, FlightBeam, Just Flight, and more. Kyle Ramsey, VATGOV2, will be leading the show as our first presentations on behalf of the VATSIM community. Our sponsors will also be handing out prizes during the event. To be entered to win a prize, visit http://conference.virtualua.org. Click on the "Register Now!" button to register. After registering, you should receive an email which will give you a ticket that has a special code on it. That code is your key to being entered for a prize. Keep that key somewhere with you, either saved or on the paper during the event. That email will also include the TeamSpeak information for the event.

Presentations will begin at 1800z. They will be ongoing until about 2000z. At 2100z, it's time to party the night out. We're having a night out with the flight simulation community out of or into Washington Dulles (KIAD) on the VATSIM network. We hope to see you all there!

Thanks,

Eric Kollat
