General Discussion / Professional Development
« on: October 02, 2019, 03:55:13 PM »
Greetings and Salutations All,

I have received some inquires as to what exactly my new role is, and how that is going to play into the betterment of VATUSA and VATSIM, I think its time to shed some light on this.  First off I'm very excited to be in this new role and to be honest... I'm more excited about it than being in my previous position, and I'm looking forward to bringing the newish program to all of our members here in VATUSA.

About two years ago Mark Hubbert created the Professional Development Series which was designed to get give current staff members, and future staff members the skills needed to effective execute the roles of their positions.  The goal of this position is to not only bring back what Mark had started but to expand on it. My goal is to provide an experience that will not only help members in the VATSIM environment, but also in places away from VATSIM.  I'm still in the very early stages of this process and I'm hoping to be able to start the first sessions by Feb 1st 2020.  I'm wanting this to be top notch, and a high quality program so I'm taking my time on it to insure it becomes such.

I'm going to try and give everyone at least a monthly update on my progress until the roll out happens. I hope this answers some questions as to what my role will be, and what I'm currently working on.  As far as a current status report as of the last month I have been reviewing the old program and implementing small changes to what has already been developed.

See everyone on the scopes!

P.S. Super excited for the new Audio Codec, its gonna be awesome!

With Nickolas's appointment brings me to the departure of Ethan Berntein who has served as ATM since April of 2015.  Ethan served the position well and brought many great things to ZLA making it one of our great ARTCCs.  Ethan is moving on to start his real world flying career in the E175 which has left him a little short on VATSIM time.  On behalf of VATUSA I thank him for his dedicated service and time to ZLA, and we wish him the best of luck in his new career.
