I'd like to welcome Daniel Hawton as the new ZDV WM! Daniel has served as the previous Data Services Manager for VATUSA as well as many other staff positions around VATUSA. We are very excited to welcome Daniel on board and excited to see what he has in store for ZDV. I would also like to thank Ben Levy for all of his amazing work as the previous ZDV Webmaster.

Purpose:

The Denver ARTCC is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who will provide effective management of the ARTCC’s data services, including but not limited to: web content development and services, discord management, and email systems.
 
Key Responsibilities:

   - Reports to the ZDV ATM and DATM
   - Develops, Manages, and oversees Web Services, APIs, E-mail, and other systems
   - Responds quickly to website and data systems needs
   - Develops policies and procedures for operation and maintenance of the ARTCC web and data systems
   - Oversees the ZDV Web Team
   - Other duties as assigned by the ATM or DATM
 
Requirements:

   - Must have at least a Student 2 (S2) rating
   - Must be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no history of unethical practices or misuse of technology
   - Must be proficient in modern web programming languages and techniques, including PHP Object Oriented Programming, HTML, MySQL, Javascript, and CSS
   - Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
   - Must be able to work in a team environment
   - Must display leadership qualities
   - Must be available for regular correspondence (via the primary means of e-mail), as well as routinely checking VATUSA forums and other outlets for official notices

Preferred Qualifications:

   - Demonstrated custom web programming skills and expertise
   - AJAX
   - Laravel
   - Familiarity with APIs for other applications (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
   - Training staff experience
   - Management experience

This position requires a significant commitment to ZDV and VATSIM. Role and responsibilities may change as needed.

We are excited about everything John has to bring to ZDV and we know that he is a great addition to the ZDV Staff Team!

Drive-in from Aspen, Denver, or Colorado Springs and join ZDV as we host the 26th Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races and Festival in Manitou Springs! Dress to impress and see how fast you can make it down the mountain in your coffin!! Fly into or out of one of our beautiful airports located in ZDV's airspace and enjoy a night you won't forget. Who knows you may even see a ghost while you're flying down the mountain.

Purpose:

The Denver ARTCC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to help promote the facility as well as plan and execute quality events by bringing in unique and creative ideas while building on those that already exist within the facility.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Reports to the ZDV ATM and DATM
Creates, Plans, and Executes events to generate pilot and controller participation while promoting ZDV
Coordinates with neighboring facilities to arrange support for events and arranges ZDV support for events held by neighboring facilities.
Maintains active relationships with virtual airlines, coordinates for VA-hosted events affecting ZDV
Develops and distributes marketing materials to promote events and the ARTCC
Marketing advisor to the Senior Staff
 
Requirements:

Must be an active member of the network in good standing
Currently holds at least a Senior Student (S3) rating
Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous or current staff experience
Real world marketing experience
Training Staff experience

This position requires a significant commitment to ZDV and VATSIM. Role and responsibilities may change as needed.

Events / Four Corners Fly-In [2359-0400z]

Come join Denver and Albuquerque fly though as many states as possible. Take a trip up to Colorado to visit Colorado's own Pueblo airport which is home to one of the big farming trading forts. Then, go visit Albaquerkys Double Eagle Airport, just west of the city to avoid all those busy roads on the way through town. Take a trip up to Farmington Airport to visit four states at once and finally finish the night off with a very lighten up approach into Santa Fe. All four airports will be staffed as well as more. Mark the date because you sure won't want to miss it!

Come join ZDV and break your normal routine by flying from Denver to Aspen to test your hand flown approach skills as well as our controlling skills. With the rolling out of Microsoft's new Flight Sim, you can really put your scenery to the test and try out some new planes. Try not to hit a mountain as you fly in and enjoy the sight of a plane taking off right towards you just before turning away.
