Another great post DK, I always love reading what you have to write up. It's the stuff I know, but sometimes forget about when controlling. Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Keep Port Open

The real question is, can we trick it to keeping the port open with a small and simple lightweight application that sends a stream every so often?

The Control Room Floor / Re: Metering on the Network
« on: March 17, 2018, 12:22:20 AM »
Also just thought of another topic, what do you do for OTHER  facilities' FNOs? When the ARTCC adjacent, a even the 2nd or 3rd tier, how do you help a controller 500, 700, or 1500 miles away?
Today I attempted to get our cab controllers to give an alternate routing, however they didn't follow it. Ideally, it would have alternating routes on departure, but we made it work. Usually it's speeds and turns/holds, or if you have friendly neighbors, who can help take some of the stuff if you can't get screwed.

Grab your winter parkas and long johns for a cold night in Chicago! We'll be huddled up in the Cab and Radar rooms on Friday, February 16th from 2359-0400z (6-10pm CT), providing full service to KORD and KMDW, as well as the other C90 airports. The coffee and hot chocolate will be waiting for you in the jetway; so fly in, or de-ice and fly out, just don't forget to bundle up!

Pilot brief: https://drive.google.com/open?id=16PgGApkwvAXkr22Qj1sg_xt5qtUUumVk

Scenery: KORD continues to undergo major changes as an additional runway is being built. We recommend using updated AFCADs or FSDT. Please note your scenery configuration in your remarks.

Are these meetings recorded anywhere? They (in addition to VATUSA), always fall during my evening work schedule  :-\

Reminder of a best practice we keep having to publish and remind folks about....  NEVER start an event at 0000Z -- start it at 2359Z if you must, but do SOMETHING to make it clear what the local day is.

ZAU, can you clarify if your event was intended for Sunday night local and that's why you put it on the calendar for Sunday, or Saturday night local in which case you should have a time different than 0000Z and have put it up on the calendar for Saturday.
Yep totally forgot on that one. We are starting 2359z Saturday.

(If you have FSDT, either disable it, or do not use the updated scenery, as they conflict.)

Is there a contingency plan for people who ARE using FSDT? You know it's going to happen.
Nope! You're free to use whatever scenery configuration you'd like. Just be aware of the differences

Our pilot brief is now available! Currently the TAF is indicating landing West, so keep that in mind as you file your STAR. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-QMkGmyTugTcVhVa050N0hmMWc

We also have updated addon scenery available. The scenery adds the extra runways. It does not, however, have the updated ILS frequencies, nor current taxiway names. Please use a diagram for cross-reference. Ray Smith gets the credit for the original file, and our own Adam Russell for further updating it to the current runway configuration. To install this scenery, just extract to your "Addon Scenery" folder, and ensure that it is enabled in your simulator. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-QMkGmyTugTd0U5U1J5RnlMM0k

(If you have FSDT, either disable it, or do not use the updated scenery, as they conflict.)

We look forward to seeing you tonight!
