I am in need of a good FMS for FSX using SB. I have tried a couple, but they seem to fall short. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I am also looking to expand my VA - Volunteer Air, a small charter and freight company based at KTYS in Knoxville, TN. Please reply if you would like more info.

Thanks,
Eddie

FSX 1,100 + hrs, Volunteer Air (VOL820).
Real-world SEL 120+ hrs

Have you tried using vasFMC?

General Discussion / Rapid Descent Not Necessary

I would like to thank Mr. Lundberg for his excellent advise on how to handle a situation such as the rapid descent episode that I endured at KFLL RW9L.  I never had an experience like that in the real arena of aviation.

There are in general a lot of fantastic ATC people out there on VATSIM I can think of one that I will always remember.  His name I don't know but I know his voice and it is always a pleasure to work with him, he usually works at the JAX center .

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and advice until a better day.

Best regards
Hugh Byrd

The Control Room Floor / Guam FIR?

I was really interested in controlling at Guam but there isnt a PGZU vARTCC. Is it possible to start it or request it be started?

As a Past Guam Controller, HCF (Honolulu Control Facility) has ultimate control over who and when people join/leave Guam.

luck!

It sounds to me that Yes you may have a lot of experience flying, but How long have you been using VATSIM? And Not to be rude or anything, cause that is NOT what I am here to do, If a controller is speaking to fast, then you ask him to slow down; If a Controller is speaking in an intelligible language, or you simply didn't hear the instruction, you ask him to repeat; Lastly, if a controller is giving you late instructions, you, as Pilot In Command, should advise the controller if you need to descend at a certain point by simply letting him know on the Frequency, there are other options that you could have used. 1) Use the TEXT on the Frequency. 2) Utilize Missed approach procedures. 3) Make sure you have, and set up your descent, and speed as according to any STAR or IAP...

General Discussion / Potential Changes to VATSIM

I'm not entirely sure what you are proposing here....

If you are talking about a Center Controller (C1+) controlling all of the airports, down to the ground, that fall under his airspace:  This is already what happens on VATSIM.  It is called Top-Down services and is one of the reasons you start your training as an S1 in the Delivery/Ground role.

If you are talking about a large center that oversees a vast area of the United States, an area that encompasses several ARTCC's within it:  That idea has been discussed by the membership at large and the decision was made to model the FAA's airspace layout in a more realistic fashion.  This idea is  known as a "Super Center" and the proposal was declined earlier this year.

If neither of these is what you are talking about:  Please try to explain it again in a different manner.

Well Said! Couldn't Have said it any better myself!
