General Discussion / virtual Fort Worth ARTCC Sweeps Iron Mic Week 26
« on: June 26, 2012, 03:35:07 PM »
On behalf of virtual Fort Worth ARTCC, I would like to thank all ZFW controllers and staff for a job well done taking all three Iron Mic awards for Week 26. This was a monumental team effort well done indeed. I would also like to thanks all the pilots who flew into our airspace during the run at all hours of the day and night especially Thursday thru Sunday night when our CTR was 24/7.

Again, thanks to Cypres for keeping our fire lit. These guys were an awesome adversary to say the least.

The Classroom (Controller Tips) / Controlling the Arrivals
« on: February 20, 2012, 03:07:36 PM »
Gents,

Is it me or does it appear that more and more controllers are not letting pilots fly the arrivals into airports? I realize the majority of newer pilots on Vatsim, haven't a clue on how to fly them or even what they are. But some of us do know how to fly them. I see it happening more often than ever myself by getting pulled off an arrival with little or zero traffic and no reason. Arrivals were created to expedite traffic flow into the terminal area safely alieviating the need for multiple vectors.
Why on earth would a controller want to complicate his/her life by taking a pilot off an arrival for no appearant reason when there is little or no traffic? I for one like to let pilot(s) fly the arrival as much as possible and limit my commands to what is really needed. If the majority of the pilots can't fly the arrivals, then take it up with those pilots. Don't penalize the ones that can. If you pull me off an arrival, at the very least I would expect a reason why.

Virtual Airlines / Freight Dogs Celebrates 3 Years!
« on: December 14, 2011, 03:36:08 PM »
Freight Dogs virtual Airlines is proud to announce its three year anniversary on the Vatsim network. What started at this time three years ago as just one pilot, a hub and a dream, is now enjoyed by many and we only just yet begun to grow!

As of today, Freight Dog pilots have logged almost 7,000 flights, over 10,000 flight hours, over a million flight miles and hauled over some six million pounds of cargo worldwide in just three years. Freight Dogs has grown to manage 8 worldwide hubs. Our most recent addition was our second European hub, Frankfurt - Hahn (EDFH).

Recently, Freight Dogs also created its own passenger alliance airline - virtual CityLink Airlines. CityLink has four operational hubs in the USA with more to be added on the horizon. Now our pilots can enjoy the benefits of both cargo and pax flights with the freedom to fly any aircraft, anytime, anywhere on the Vatsim network without restrictions that other VA's might have.

We look forward to another great year on the Vatsim network. Freight Dogs and CityLink are inviting and accepting new pilots to be part of our organization and to join us in the voyage of our fourth year on Vatsim.

restriction by rank that limits what aircraft you fly. Freight Dog pilots are their own
bosses flying their own routes and schedules. There are no pesky pireps to fill out. Freight

their log book for them, automatically!

Freight Dogs has five convenient hubs:
Memphis International (KMEM) - Freight Dog World Headquarters

pretty nifty flight reports and virtual pay! So if you like a more structured VA we have
that too!
