[07/18/21 1900-2300Z] VATVENTURE 2021
« on: June 28, 2021, 11:07:00 PM »

The ZAU annual VATVENTURE is back for the 2021 season! Join us as we staff OSH for two action packed days of virtual airshow fun! Join us on Sunday, July 18th 2021 from 1600-1900Z, or Thursday, July 22nd 2021 from 2200-0100Z at KOSH in scenic Oshkosh Wisconsin. Everyone's favorite VATVENTURE NOTAM procedures will be in effect, so be sure to read the NOTAM thoroughly! How many times can you fly the arrival? Come fly in to practice for the real thing, or just for fun! Remember to rock your wings, land on the correct dot and enjoy the show! We look forward to seeing you all there!

For additional information pertaining to arriving and departing OSH during VATVENTURE.... EAA has produced a great video series that go over procedures. Please note these videos are for the real AirVenture. Some procedures will be slightly different during VATVENTURE. If a difference exists.... Follow the VATVENTURE NOTAM.

Question for MSFS2020 users:

The NOTAM recommends this scenery add-on in order to ensure one has the "dots":
https://flightsim.to/file/1686/kosh-witman-regional-airport-colored-runway-dots

However, this scenery is also available, is a bit more complete than the above, and also has the "dots":
https://flightsim.to/file/9667/kosh-wittman-regional-airport-oshkosh-wisconsin

Can someone knowledgeable confirm that the second would work (i.e. the correct dots of the correct colors are in the correct places)?  I did a quick tour of the airport and it looks okay to me.

EDIT: I just found the pages in the NOTAM which depict where each dot and sqaure is located.  I checked them all and it looks good.  I can informally recommend that second scenery!  It's not as immersively detailed as the LPNils version for X-Plane 11 (which is INCREDIBLE, FYI), but, it's nicely done.

Chicago ARTCC did an AMAZING job putting this on, once again.  Top-notch.  I hope anyone who missed it today gets a chance to fly it Thursday.  Cheers!

I agree 100%! I flew this event on Thursday and I was amazed how well this event was run. I felt completely immersed and excited to be taking part in an event that simulated very well what our real world pilots get to experience during this fly in. An added bonus for me was the addition of KOSH EAA Air Venture airport scenery, (XP) https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/42118-kosh-wittman-regional-eaa-airventure-oshkosh/ that gave me the uncanny experience of truly being at the show! I've personal have been at this event in the past a total of  four times and this gave me feeling that I was back! Haha! Thanks again to all who make this happen!
