Hello all,
I am sorry to hassle anyone with this but I am new to VATSIM and have no clue what in the world is going on.
I have signed up, passed the ATC test, signed up for a Center, received 50,000 freaking e-mails, downloaded the VRC controlling software and even opened a support ticket.

I searched for forum for others that had trouble getting started but I can't figure what in the hell to do to get on this!
I've done everything I can find on the VATSIM and VATUSA sites so I open VRC and connect but there is nothing to do as far as seeing the server list of these supposid 7 servers found.
I always help people out when I can so if anyone could please take a moment just to fill me in so I can get started, I would greatly appreciate your help!

If it helps, I'm not some kid controller trying to get into this. I'm in ATC CTI school and hoping to graduate by th end of Summer..

Thank you,
C. Ellis (cbkyro)

Hey Corey,

The first thing that you are going to is get the sector files for the area that you signed up for in order to observe. Which area is that? I'll try to point you in the right direction for those files.

Secondly, you'll need to get in touch with a mentor or instructor at the area that you signed up for to begin training, and they'll be able to do more than I can right now.

Corey,

Since you've already been placed in an ARTCC, the best route at this point is to contact your training administrator to setup training, which will most likely be done by a mentor or instructor (if not the training administrator). More likely than not, steps on how to do this are written within one of those e-mails sent to you by your ARTCC when you first joined.

You may also want heck out the VATUSA Training Resource Center, put together by Mike Hodge, at www.vatusa.net/training; there is a VRC setup guide available there.

Corey,
Hello, I am an Instructor at ZNY. Please register at http://www.nyartcc.org/bigapple/ and check it out.  If your questions aren't answered there, please feel free to email or post, and we'd be happy to help you. out.  Once you have registered, you will receive operating initials, and you can begin the training process at your assigned facility (JFK).   You will need to pass the zny s1 to start controlling.  Further training info is available at http://www.nyartcc.org/training

Good Luck!

Thank you Richard and everyone else for the help! Very much appreciated. Thanks.

I had already registered on the NY website but not downloaded the sectors. Now I have done that and am completeing all of the exams.
Afterwards should I talk to my given instructor on how to connect and start controlling or what?
It drives me nuts when it says there are 7 sessions found or what controllers are currently on position. Too anxious to get in there I guess..
I've also been argueing about 2 questions on one of the tests and finally the VATUSA Director of NA started replying with why their answer is better than mine.

Because he said so. Lol  (Too much in the convo to post it here.)

That wasn't quite the answer I gave.
