Sky Blue Radio, The Pilot Club, and The New York ARTCC proudly present a nice Thursday evening fly-in. This event is a hybrid between GA and jet aircraft, so feel free to fly whatever you want! We are here to have a good time and cool vibes all around!

The Pilot Club is planning to arrive between 9pm - 10pm Eastern if you want to land during the primary arrival push!

It's the premier New York event of the year and everyone is invited!! You heard it here first, we are going all in and will be bringing you 8 hours of continuous coverage live from New York! Don’t mind the strange background noise when you are on our frequencies. Noises may include a printer on fire because there are too many flight strips, instructors yelling at students because they forgot to clear someone to land, or Approach eating a hoagie.

All major ZNY fields will be staffed, so fly in, out, and around for an amazing time in the Northeast. I promise you this is an event you do not want to miss!

40 miles later…
“American 2745, direct WHITE and climb to 17,000”

This example highlights one of the most unrealized aspects of the N90 (New York) TRACON covering 3 class bravo fields, the 25-layered cake. Unlike ORD or ATL where every plane gets nicely flowed onto a downwind, base, and final, New York traffic is on routes that overlay each other as planes are landing and departing several different fields simultaneously within a 40 miles radius. If you were to pick one single waypoint over the Hudson River, there could be up to 10 different controllers that own different pieces of altitude all the way up to 60,000 feet. I give you… the complicated but ever beautiful, New York.

Do I really need to explain this event? Arguably one of the most iconic symbols of the United States, the Statue of Liberty was unveiled to the public 136 years ago! Let’s celebrate this monumental anniversary with an equally monumental event!

Fly into or out of Newark and catch a glimpse of this iconic piece of American history! Traffic is probably gonna be crazy, delays might happen… but who knows, maybe the Traffic Management Unit (TMU) might actually be doing their job and not eating cheesecake.

We are super excited to see everyone tonight! Here are a few points below to please keep in mind!

  • Please fly a plane you understand. Hold is literally in the title of the event my friends
  • There are no gates at TEB, only ramps. Pick one here: https://flttrack.fltplan.com/AirportDiagrams/KTEBapt.jpg
    • Tell either the Tower when you check in before landing or Ground after landing where you want to go
  • As TEB only has 3 STARS, below is a cheat sheet for the end of your route based on the direction you are coming from:
    • South: MAZIE3 (turboprop) or JAIKE3 (turbojet) STAR
    • West: LVZ4 STAR
    • North: Route should end in something like [...V489 COATE]
    • If all else fails, use Simbrief, Flightaware, or ask Delivery

Looking for a quick escape to the beautiful shores of Bermuda? Or maybe you fancy getting lost in the Bermuda Triangle while NY Radio fumbles around trying to figure out how HF radios work (cause it turns out they had the VHF frequency tuned instead like a fool).

Depart St. Martin and San Juan for Bermuda on this amazing Sunday afternoon to draw your stress away from the busy holiday preparations. I can't guarantee much as an EC, but I can guarantee that you'll have loads of fun listening to static on the HF radio!
