This event will feature a fully staffed Austin-Bergstrom Int’l (KAUS) and a staffed Houston Intercontinental Airport (KIAH) and Houston Hobby Airport (KHOU). Enjoy the festivities of the music, technology, and film, at SXSW 2017, by flying into out of or through any of our major fields. Help our controllers hit a high note on this special occasion, from 2259z - 0300z (1759-2200 CST).

Join the Houston ARTCC, Tuesday, February 28th, 2017, as we host our first annual Mardi Gras celebration. This years location is Galveston, the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the country! Mardi Gras in Galveston annually generates more than 300,000 attendees, and takes a special island spin on Mardi Gras! Scholes International Airport at Galveston (KGLS), will be fully staffed from 2359z - 0400z (1759-2200 CST). Come out and join the crazy festival, with more than 3 million beads thrown into the air, and enjoy Mardi Gras Galveston Style!

Emergencies. One of the most stressful parts of anything aviation, we try to avoid them as much as possible. Not February 11th, in fact ZHU will encourage them. Pushing our controllers to handle absolutely insane emergencies under event level traffic, for four hours of heated controlling and flying. If you are willing to possibly be one of the random emergency aircraft in this event, private message “ZHU_ECâ€, all the callsigns will be put into a pool and chosen randomly to declare different types of emergencies during the event. The event will last from 2359z - 0400z (1759-2200 CST). Come make the boys down south sweat!

Join the Houston and Memphis ARTCCs Sunday, January 29th, from 2000z to 0000z (1400 to 1800 CST) as we staff up Jackson Int'l (KJAN) and New Orleans Int’l (KMSY). Our Soul City showdown will feature a cross-fire between these two fields for four straight hours of non-stop action! Fly in, out, or between our featured fields for an exciting afternoon in the soul cities down south! Bring your IFR, VFR, and all else; you can’t give our controllers the blues!
