News / Pilot Training Department Recruiting Help To Modernize PRC
« on: February 23, 2013, 06:09:01 PM »
One of the main goals of VATSIM is to create an environment, which is fun and, at the same time, an educational and realistic simulation of procedures followed by pilots and air traffic controllers everyday around the world.

A very important aspect of what we do is welcoming new pilots and assisting them to get on and succeed in our virtual airspace and, at the forefront of this initiative is the Pilot Resource Center. The Pilot Training Department has begun a project to modernize this area of the website. This will involve reinvigorating the excellent content that is already in place and, introduce new content that supports the training towards pilot ratings provided by ATOs.

To assist with this process, we are inviting applications from those who would like to volunteer some of their time to act as content authors. Perhaps you have some material already written that you’d be kind enough to donate or, have a great idea for an article. You may just wish to help us out in any way you can. We intend on completing the first stage of modernization in English and later, expand it to include other-language translations. If you’d like to volunteer as a translator we would be very grateful to hear from you.

Please send in a short letter of interest to [email protected] stating your main area of interest or if you have any pre-written articles you’d be kind enough to donate. All authors will be fully credited on the VATSIM.net website and you’ll be part of one of the most important and notable projects that the network has ongoing.

Yours sincerely,
Callum McLoughlin
Head of PRC Modernization

NOTAMs / Northeastern Region Air Traffic Director Position
« on: February 10, 2013, 01:16:34 PM »
Team USA,

After more than three years in the Western Region ATD position, Tom Seeley has asked for and been approved for a change to the Northeastern Region ATD position. As he does most of his controlling in Boston, New York and Cleveland, it makes sense, and it's in his time zone as well.

This change is effective immediately. Until a new Western Region ATD is selected, Tom will continue to act as the Western Region ATD and will be available for any issues or needs.

Tom has also graciously agreed to continue as Instructor for Oakland Oceanic until a suitable replacement can be found.

General Discussion / FNO - 5/13/11
« on: May 12, 2011, 10:36:54 PM »
The VATUSA calendar states that Miami is hosting FNO this week. This is incorrect. ZAB will be hosting FNO this week.

Sorry for the confusion.
