Position Posting - HCF Training Administrator

Purpose

The Honolulu CF (HCF) is seeking a qualified, professional and motivated individual to fulfill
the role of Training Administrator (TA) to develop and maintain the HCF training department and be the mediator between the CF and VATUSA regarding the hiring of Instructors and VATSIM GRP Training compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversees, develops and Manages the HCF training program
- Reports to the HCF Air Traffic Manager (ATM) and VATUSA Training Director (VATUSA3)
- Hires facility instructors and mentors in consultation with the HCF ATM and DATM
- Develops scenario files using Situation Editor for usage in Tower Trainer
- Administer Over-the-Shoulder (OTS) Examinations on Sweatbox or the live VATSIM network
- Train and evaluate members of varying skill levels and controller rating
- Develop HCF training policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the HCF ATM or DATM, or VATUSA3

Requirements

- Hold at least a C1 rating for at least 12 months
- Have held a rating of I1 for at least 30 days at any given time before hiring date
- Have previous training experience
- Have no disciplinary or unprofessional conduct in the last twelve months
- Be capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
- Have a strong knowledge of the United States Airspace and Air Traffic Control systems
- Comprehensive understanding of the VATSIM Global Ratings Policy and how it applies to the development of a training program.
- Have excellent English written and oral communication skills
- Have the ability to create professional looking documents using Word or similar software
- Have membership as a home controller or visiting controller in HCF (Must be certified through center) for at least 60 days.

Preferred Skills

- Supervisory, trainer, or management experience in the virtual or real world.
- Previous or current ARTCC Senior Staff experience.
- Instructor or Mentor experience on the network.
- Real-World ATC or flying experience.
- Prior VATSIM events coordination experience.
- Facility Engineer experience (VRC, vSTARS, etc.).
- Knowledge of Aircraft Situation Editor and TWRTrainer; will train if never utilized.
- Euroscope facility creation and maintaining.
- Joy in teaching and helping others develop relevant skills through their virtual ATC career

Interested candidates should be aware that this is not an entry-level position and not for the inexperienced. The workload is considerable (4+ hours a week) and should not be taken lightly. Only those who understand the requirements and can make the appropriate commitment should consider applying.

Purpose

The Honolulu CF (HCF) is seeking a qualified, professional, and motivated individual to fulfill
the role of Deputy Air Traffic Manager (DATM) to assist the Air Traffic Manager in providing effective management and leadership within the facility.

Key Responsibilities


- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the facility
- Reports to the HCF Air Traffic Manager
- Maintains an active online presence within the facility and on the VATSIM network
- Functions as ARTCC/CF Staff Member and attends periodic meetings as necessary
- Provides for coordination of position assignments and position restrictions when necessary
- Provides guidance and help to assigned controllers or guests
- Assists in the coordination of events that may affect the CF's airspace
- Assists in management of the VATUSA HCF member and visiting controller roster
- Assists the Air Traffic Manager in delegating tasks to other CF staff members and monitoring operations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Air Traffic Manager

Requirements

- Hold at least a C1 rating.
- Have no disciplinary or unprofessional conduct in the last twelve months.
- Be capable of working well in a team-oriented environment.
- Be adept at working with many different personality types and skill levels.
- Have a strong knowledge of the United States Airspace and Air Traffic Control systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of the HCF mission statement.
- Have excellent English written and oral communication skills.
- Have the ability to create professional looking documents using Word or similar software.
- The desire to help the Air Traffic Manager build and grow HCF into a facility that meets our mission statement and vision and makes VATSIM proud.

It's Hawaii's turn for Friday Night Operations! Honolulu's Daniel K Inouye International Airport (PHNL) will have full air traffic control coverage on June 1, 2018. Come fly into the Hawaiian islands where we have something for every type of pilot: from those who like long-haul flights to those who like a short inter-island hop.

Staffing at other Hawaiian fields will be based on controller availability. Pilot briefing will be available one week before the event.

News / Honolulu is looking for a Web Services Assistant

Honolulu Control Facility is looking for an Assistant Webmaster. The primary role is to provide help to the head webmaster with the management of existing web systems. Also, you may be asked to help out on new projects to enhance the web space at HCF.

Primary Duties

• Update content on the website on a semi-regular basis
• Resolve bugs on back-end code

Prerequisites

• Intermediate experience with HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP.

Bonus

• Experience with Node.js,  Angular 4, Ionic Framework
• Graphic Design (Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop) Experience
   
No particular ATC rating required, but candidate must be willing to transfer to HCF and go through appropriate training to become certified within the facility.  There is no period in which to start or finish the ATC training.

Taylor Broad (TB) has been selected as Webmaster for Honolulu Control Facility.  Taylor comes with extensive experience in various coding languages, graphic design, data services, and he even built his own Virtual Airline Operations System (VAOS)! 

We're looking forward to working with Taylor to make the IT side of HCF shine like the sun!  Congratulations Taylor!  I'm looking forward to working with you more.

Honolulu Control Facility (HCF) is searching for an Facility Engineer to develop and maintain the HCF VRC files, cheatsheets, SOPs, LOAs, and other controller clients/resources.


The Facility Engineer (FE):

* Maintains and updates sector files for all approved ATC client software, updating at least every AIRAC cycle.
* Maintains vATIS configuration files.
* Maintains POF and alias files.
* Coordinates with adjacent ARTCCs/FIRs as required.
* Ensures established LOAs and SOPs are fully represented within sector files and other procedures.
* Performs other facility related work as directed by the ATM and DATM.
* Supports the HCF goal of professionalism, courtesy, hospitality, and just plain old fun.
* Ability to listen to feedback and take constructive action.
* Maintains an online presence on the VATSIM server and HCF TeamSpeak.
* Attends periodic meetings to report on ARTCC activities.
* Additional duties as assigned by the ATM/DATM.

Core Requirements

The successful candidate:

* Must be at least an S2 rated controller (S3+ preferred).
* Must meet and exceed the HCF minimum staff controlling activity while constantly maintaining the duties of the FE. 
* Thorough working knowledge of VRC and vATIS.
* Must be an active member of the network in good standing.
* Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Must be able to work in a team environment.
* Must be available for regular correspondence (email, etc), HCF Staff Meetings, Events, and routinely monitoring the VATUSA forums.

Highly Desired Skills and Abilities

* Have experience in Euroscope: Ability to develop usable files for HCF.
* Have ample working knowledge of vSTARS and vERAM for creation of facility files.
* Possess a high degree of energy and commitment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
* Demonstrate at a minimum the qualities of understanding, patience, maturity and when necessary, restraint.
* Bring a verifiable level of experience sufficient to ensure the ability to manage a complex aviation environment.
* Understand and commit to a high level of participation with the knowledge that the position requires considerable devotion and commitment of time.
* Instructor or Mentor experience on the network is a plus.
* Experience and certification within HCF is a plus. Candidates currently active on the roster will be given first consideration.
* Previous managerial or administration experience on the VATSIM network or real world is a plus.

Honolulu Control Facility (HCF) is searching for an Events Coordinator to promote and develop HCF's public image via the creation, planning, implementation, advertising, coordination, and execution of HCF Events.

The Events Coordinator (EC):

* Reports to the HCF DATM and ATM.
* Identifies and develops events to generate traffic and to promote the CF.
* Implements and oversees approved events.
* Coordinates with neighboring ARTCCs/FIRs to arrange support for HCF-hosted events, and arranges HCF support for neighboring events.
* Maintains relationships with virtual airlines, coordinates support for VA-hosted events affecting the HCF airspace.
* Develops and distributes marketing material (graphics, news posts, forum posts, etc) to promote events and the CF.
* Leads and manages events division of HCF.
* Additional duties as assigned by the ATM/DATM.

Core Requirements

The successful candidate:

* Must have at least an S3 rating (exception for S2 may be made on a case-by-case basis).
* Must control at least the minimum number of hours required by the CF Standard Operating Procedures to maintain active membership.
* Must be an active member of the network in good standing.

* Must be able to develop banners for VATUSA Event posting.
* Must be able to work in a team environment.
