Join ZDC for our regional night featuring the Fayetteville and Raleigh-Durham airports. Whether you want to come visit the US Army Airborne and Special Operations museum, visit the Lemur Cetner in Durham, or drop your college students off for their Fall semester at UNC, our expert controllers will make sure your service into and out of these airports is top-notch.


August 6,2024 | 7pm - 10pm Eastern | 2300z - 0200z

Oh no! A top-secret shipment delivery of 3 crates has gone all wrong… the crates from a shipment were dropped at the wrong locations due to a miscommunication, and you've been recruited to help find them.  The crates are located at airports within the Washington DC ARTCC and have somewhat outdated tracking beacons in them.  By flying to any field within the ARTCC area, pilots may check the "tracking receivers" for these crates.  The signal trackers are only good enough to provide an 8-point cardinal direction (N, NE, E, SE, etc.) and a signal strength indicator (strong, moderate, weak).  A pilot who lands at the field where a crate is located will be considered to have retrieved it.  Local authorities and airport managers have strict instructions not to give out the details of the shipments/crates as they are top secret.  It’s up to you to save the day!

Ladies and Gentlemen! College classes at Virginia Tech are officially over for the summer. Time to load up and fly in to KROA and pick up your offspring for a well-deserved rest at home for the next few weeks.

ZDC Controllers will be staffing in and around the airport for your flying pleasure. Join us as you fly into the Roanoke/Blacksburg Regional airport and get those students home for the summer.

Cherry Blossom Festival (ft. KDCA)

Join the Virtual Washington ARTCC controllers as we make our way back to Washington National Airport for the Cherry Blossom Fly-In on March 30rd. This annual gathering coincides with the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, taking place between March and April. During this period, the cherry blossoms along the National Mall are in full bloom, attracting tourists from across the country who come to enjoy the stunning scenery and festival events.

These iconic trees have a history dating back to 1912 when Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki generously donated them to the city of Washington DC as a symbol of friendship. Planted around the tidal basin off the National Mall, a festival celebrating these trees began in 1934.

Washington National Airport (KDCA) stands out as the premier domestic airport for both commuters and tourists heading to the Washington Metro Area. Located just 3 miles south of the National Mall, the airport offers a range of scenic and distinctive approaches/departures for arriving or departing aircraft. With a diverse selection of North American flights, including regional and transcontinental routes, there's a flight for everyone.
