This kind of stuff shouldn't even be taught at all. The documentation is publicly available, it is not rocket science complicated too! Very straight forward and easy to comprehend.

When people ask to teach them how to fly the PMDG, the pros would always say "RTFM" I wonder what's the difference between the PMDG and VRC when both are software that has documentations available online. It just needs to be utilized, clearly not everyone has the initiative to read it first, especially those who really need it. Teaching basic VRC operations over and over and over and over and over again is just a complete waste of training resource when an online documentation (a comprehensive one too!) is available.
+1

Totally agree.

General Discussion / Southwest acquires AirTran for $1.4bn

4.  Aircraft. Sorry, ladies and gents, but expect the B717s to go. SWA is still receiving B737-700s they ordered, and still have some on the books to receive. I can see those replacing the B717s they have, since they will be gaining 50something B737-700s from TRS. I believe SWA has enough B737s on order still to offset the B712s they'll be getting. But over time, those will go, and go for another reason outright. . .

Praise to the heavens! Hallelujah!

The question is, what are they going to do with all those 717's? I hope to God they don't slap Southwest colors on those. Sell them and buy more 737's is what I say.

I'm quite certain that's not an actual image. Looks more like a Photoshop job to me.
It's obviously a photoshop. The plane is a B787.

A new brand identity is being developed, which includes a new livery.
Then what is the point of this livery? Sounds like a waste of paint to me.

So are you saying that's not what the livery will be?

I'm sure we won't have a clip-art globe on our planes.
Hopefully, the current UA livery and brand stay, and we don't go back to the early 1990's with that COA mess.
I'm not sure what you mean by any of this, but this is what the new livery will be:

Being a Houstonian, the loss of Continental hits hard. I don't think I'll get used to the Continental globe on the tail with a United slapped across the fuselage. Plus, I'll never see a B787 in Continental colors, as they were going to start service from Houston to Auckland about a year from now.

Also, I heard a while back that none of the COA or UAL VA's were "virtually merging". Any update on this?

Not too sure about the Orlando side contacting MIA, though.
Some pilots are good about that, but you can never be perfect.

That's been tried before, and was discontinued.

Not fully correct, when I was on F11, I was fully displayed utilizing Vatview and Vattastic.  When I move my primary visibility point, on vatview, it moves too.  I placed it over at Pensacola for testing, and a few minutes later, my "approach ring" was over Pensacola instead of Orlando on vatview.  This, to me, would be the smarter way to do it as opposed to a giant database because approaches are more likely to change than center sectors.  When looking through Vatspy and ServInfo's directories, I find the center boundaries, but nothing for TRACONs. So, meh.
I have never seen this before. Could you please post a screenshot of you on as F11 and displayed on the map?

Most mapping tools seem to place Approaches based upon where their primary visibility point is located. (and by most, I mean Vattastic, vatview, and ServInfo being the ones I checked)  Not too sure about VATSpy because I have had zero luck getting the thing to fully function, but that is how I have found ServInfo and several others to work.
Incorrect. None of the programs listed above display F11 callsigns. Furthermore, they don't place Approaches based on primary vis point.
