News / Re: VATUSA announces new Northeastern Region ATD
« on: October 20, 2016, 12:00:46 AM »
Mani,

It was an absolute pleasure working with you over the past year. I know that the northeast will do very well with you as ATD.

Congratulations!

Looking for a short hop? Come join ZDV on Tuesday, July 12th from 2359-0300z (1800-2100 MDT) and enjoy a scenic flight between Casper-Natrona County International Airport and Rapid City Regional airport. Your flight will take you over the Black Hills National Forrest-home of Mount Rushmore. If the circuit isn't your thing, fly some VFR around the momument or just in or out of one of the featured fields. All traffic is welcome!

I have to admit, you almost had me until you said the part about seceding ZAN to VATCAN... almost. At least this one was a bit more believable than the one about training FAA controllers.

On April 22nd, the Denver Regional Transportation District will commence service on the University of Colorado A Line between downtown and the Airport. To celebrate, the Virtual Denver ARTCC will be staffing up Denver International Airport for Friday Night Ops. Come ride the A Line!  All aircraft are welcome!

Hi Ken,

I have posted a notice to the rest of our controllers, though I can't promise how many will staff up given the early time.

For your routing, I recommend flying ROCKI2 HBU ETL.

For future groupflights, please send the ZDV events staff a message at http://www.denartcc.org/index.php/contact to make sure we see your notice.

The Flight Deck / Re: ILS approaches to non-towered fields?

So do MTJ and HDN. Most of the other fields I listed have runways that are almost as long but they also see large jets during the ski season.

For ZDV, take a look at KFNL, KGXY, KLBF, KRIL, KDRO, KHDN, KMTJ, and KGUC. There may be more but those are the ones I've seen traffic at. For practice flights, I'd recommend using the first two since they're under Denver Approach so they'll have ATC coverage more often than the others.
