The Control Room Floor / DAT to SCT2 (and eventually XML)
« on: August 02, 2018, 01:49:45 AM »
Hey folks,

I haven't been able to find a good converter from FAA .dat files to .sct2, so I wrote my own.
Unlike other converters, this one can convert multiple .dat files at once and name them appropriately in the outputted sector file.
At this time, it's still a work in progress. I intend to add compatibility to go straight from .dat to a file that could function with vSTARS (thus bypassing the use of SectorFileToVideoMap).

Please let me know if you have any issues running the file, suggestions, etc.

General Discussion / Keep Port Open
« on: April 11, 2018, 12:43:49 AM »
I'm on a university WiFi network and as a result, I have to consistently (every 20-60 seconds) tap my PTT in order to keep the voice port open. If I don't do this, I cannot hear pilots on the frequency when I'm controlling.
I know others have experienced this issue in the past and I'm wondering what the best solution may be. I'm not sure if my university would be able to open ports for me.

Is there any application which may be able to send a small packet every few seconds in order to keep the port open? Any other suggestions on how to resolve this?

Join the Miami ARTCC in conjunction with the Boston Virtual ARTCC on February 20th as we host a Regional Circuit from Opa Locka (OPF) to Key West (EYW).

In the Regional Circuit, controllers fully staff two regional airports, providing complete 'gate-to-gate' coverage over this special three-hour event. The focus airports are typically 80-200nm apart, and a high volume of pilots operating in this compressed airspace means the Regional Circuit provides optimal conditions for congested frequencies and busy airways.

EYW-OPF (RNAV): CARNU CURSO4 (AOB 17000)
EYW-OPF (Non-RNAV): CARNU DVALL2 (AOB 17000)

As many of our controllers are based in Miami, there is a high likelihood that some will lose internet access. We apologize in advance if that happens, but we cannot guarantee complete staffing for that reason.

Events / [SEP 24 2215-2359Z] South Florida Night for New Pilots
« on: September 09, 2016, 12:32:07 PM »

On September 24th from 2215-2359Z (1815-2000 EDT), the Miami ARTCC is hosting Cape Air Virtual for their group flight from FLL to NSB (North Seaplane Base, Bimini).
More importantly, we're also inviting new pilots to come fly for this event and enjoy helpful ATC who will guide them through their flight.

Bimini's airports (NSB and MYBS) are untowered. For that reason, we recommend flying VFR or cancelling IFR near the field (in order to reduce your delay into the field).

« on: September 03, 2015, 10:46:44 PM »

In case you happened to miss out on Miami Live last weekend, we have another event coming up to mark the beginning of fall!
The First Fall FNO is taking place on September 25th from 2300-0300Z (1900-2300 EDT).
Although fall doesn't really exist in Miami, we're still welcoming the season to the Northern Hemisphere!

Be advised, we recently had some SIDs/STARs update, the changes are insignificant. Most SID changes reflect a new "Top Altitude" box (which displays the initial altitude) and most STAR changes reflect the renaming of TMB to "Miami Executive Airport".
Please file valid routes which include SIDs and STARs (it makes our controllers' jobs easier).

Join us for this great event in Miami, where it's still unbearably hot in the fall!
