I'm pleased to announce Miami has a new EC! Gerardo Rodriguez has been chosen to be the new events coordinator. He's been a member of ZMA for 2 and a half years and brings new energy and ideas coming from planning events in his job. We're all eager to see what the future has!

Miami is looking for a new Events Coordinator to join the staff!

The Events Coordinator is key to connecting pilots and controllers. We're looking for someone who is motivated, experienced, hardworking, and willing to take on new challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and plans events promoting ZMA/ZMO airspace (including developing graphics and promoting events)
- Coordinates controller event participation
- Coordinates events with neighboring facilities
- Coordinates support for events at neighboring facilities
- Solicits feedback for and debriefs each event with the Facility Advisory Board
- Stays up to date with VATUSA, VATSIM, and virtual airline events
- Serves as liaison to virtual airlines and other pilot organizations
- Maintains an active presence within the facility and on the VATSIM network
- Other duties as required

Required Qualifications
- Be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no significant derogatory marks
- Currently hold a rating of Student (S3) or higher
- Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
-Previous or current ARTCC staff experience
-Real world aviation experience
-Prior events planning experience
-Photoshop skills for banner making

This position requires a significant commitment to ZMA and VATSIM. Role and responsibilities may change as needed.

- Letter of intent or cover letter (we'd like to know what ideas you have for new events and get an idea of what you'd like to do in this role in the short and long term)
- Resume detailing VATSIM experience (include any relevant real-world experience)

Come one, come all, VATUSA's Southern Region is hosting FNO this week. Tons of airports, some storms, and lots of fun. The event runs from 2300z to 0400z. Pilots, please open the link below for preferred routings to expedite your flight. Controllers, holdfast for the plan, it'll be a good one.

The featured fields include KATL, KAUS, KCLT, KDAL, KDFW, KFLL, KIAH, KJAX, KMCO, KMEM, KMIA, KMSY, KPHX, & KSTL.

After serving as DATM with Miami for two years, James Bain has decided to step down. I’d like to thank him for his outstanding work leading ZMA and leaving big shoes to fill. Please welcome Shane Friedman as Miami’s new DATM. He’s been a staff member at Miami for years serving as a mentor, instructor, and more recently, FE. We are all looking forward to working with him in the future. Please join me in welcoming Shane!

ZMA Miami ARTCC is excited to announce the first event of fall!

"(F)All roads lead to South Beach" FNO will take place between 2359z-0400z and features Miami International airport (KMIA).

Preferred Routing:
ATL-> MIA:

GAIRY2 IRQ FISHO Q93 KENLL OMN HILEY7
Aircraft at ATL can file either routing. If too many aircraft file one route some may be expected to be rerouted via the other.

MCO->MIA:
OMN HILEY7 (RNAV)
MLB ANNEY4 (Non-RNAV)
Aircraft routed via the RNAV routing can expect vectors by departure direct MLB to join the arrival.

On Saturday, August 24 from 2100z to 0200z, ZMA will be hosting our annual Miami Live event! We will be controlling live from Tampa, Florida.
The featured airport for this event is KMIA Miami International but pilots are welcome all over our airspace!

Events / Salsa Night at San Juan!

On behalf of VATCAR: San Juan CERAP is hosting an FNO at San Juan (TJSJ).

The FNO is once again back in San Juan for the 3rd consecutive year and 4th time in the last five years. Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (TJSJ) will have full ATC service for this event. Also, thanks to LatinVFR, a lucky pilot will get the chance to win a free copy of their San Juan scenery. You just have to fly in or out of San Juan during the event and submit the following form (https://forms.gle/jdFW9Xa1RZpeSC7M6). You can do more than one flight to increase your chances of winning.

ZMA would like to welcome Mr. Erik Quinn as our new Training Administrator. Having previously served as a mentor and as Facility Engineer, Erik will help ZMA in its training program moving forward.

In similar vain, Mr. Shane Friedman has been selected to take over the Facility Engineer from Erik. He has previously server as Erik's right hand man as Assistant Facility Engineer.

ZMA is currently seeking applications for the position of Training Administrator.

Key Accountabilities:
* Reports jointly to the Miami Air Traffic Manager and the VATUSA Training Director
* Manage and lead the training program to make it effective and efficient for all ARTCC controllers
* Maintains an adequate staff of instructors and mentors to meet ARTCC training needs
* Updates and maintain training website material and certification system
* Maintains a high online presence
* Performs duties of a staff Instructor
* Develops and implements training policies and procedures
* Functions as an ARTCC staff member and attends periodic meetings as necessary
* Other duties as assigned by ATM


Required Skills:

* Must be an active member of the network in good standing with a clean history
* Currently hold a rating of Controller (C1) or higher
* Currently serving (preferred), or previously served, as an Instructor within VATUSA
* Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
* Strong knowledge of United States and VATSIM ATC system
* Strong knowledge of FAA Order 7110.65
* Must be able to succeed in a team environment
* Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Interested candidates should be aware that this is not an entry-level position and not for the inexperienced. The workload is considerable and should not be taken lightly. ZMA is looking for a Deputy Air Traffic Manager!

The Deputy Air Traffic Manager assists the Air Traffic Manager in day-to-day management and leadership of the ARTCC. We're looking for someone who is motivated, experienced and willing to take on new challenges.

Time Commitment
-As ZMA is working on growing, 4-8 hours a week in addition to maintain active controller status for ARTCC membership. All applicants should consider the time they can donate now but also in the future.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and oversees major projects
- Oversees the ARTCC roster
- Helps develop new controllers and ensures they have the resources to succeed
- Maintains a highly active presence in the facility and on the VATSIM network
- Other duties as required by the ATM


Required Qualifications
- Be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no significant derogatory marks
- Currently hold a rating of Senior Student (S3) or higher
- Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
- Strong knowledge of the United States Airspace and Air Traffic Control systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills


Preferred Qualifications
- Professional or real world management experience
- Previous or current ARTCC senior staff experience
- Instructor or mentor experience
- Real world aviation experience
