« on: September 01, 2020, 08:19:33 PM »

The Midwest and the Canadian Prairies are the best places to see those fall colors. The trees are changing colors, temperatures are dropping, and winter is right around the corner. The city of Winnipeg is only a short 400 miles from the Twin Cities. We're teaming up with our friends at Winnipeg to host a CYWG/KMSP crossfire. Come fly between KMSP and CYWG to enjoy the fall colors and temperatures before de-icing becomes the norm!

Jokes on you, there's nothing to do in the entire state.
You can go to school there. That's about it.

With summer in full swing, the snowbirds are returning home to the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota. Around this time, VATSIM controllers from across the country would normally convene in Minneapolis for a weekend of Twin Cities VATSIM controlling for the second of two real-ops events hosted by Minneapolis ARTCC. So, come on, get whatever plane you fancy into KMSP for Northern Isolation!

Welcome back to GA Tuesdays! This time, we're headed to Sioux City in Iowa. Come fly into Sioux Gateway Airport, also known as Colonel Bud Day Field between 1800CDT and 2100CDT for a great deal of fun. Be nice to the ICAO identifier! Sioux City does not "SUX." ;) See you there!

NOTE: This is an edition of the biweekly event, GA Tuesdays. The name has been modified for this edition only because it sounds catchier. 8)

Welcome back to GA Tuesdays! Our past two editions of this event featuring KFAR and KDLH have gone great! Today's edition features KGRB and KATW. Located just off the coast of Lake Michigan, Green Bay is the third largest city in Wisconsin and is also home to the Green Bay Packers football team (The superior NFL team ;)). Come fly in to KGRB or KATW to enjoy some fresh Wisconsin cheese curds. Hope to see you there!

General Discussion / Re: Changes to FNOs for the time being
« on: April 11, 2020, 12:12:13 PM »
Getting rid of FNO is a good idea, however, there will still be those pilots who will complain about taking FNO away. If you must keep FNO, I think it'd be better if we just staff the entire United States like Light Up America. I understand that there are problems with this. There could be a staffing issue, but that's why there's the ACE TEAM. More people are home so that should help too. Give pilots a choice of where to fly on FNO. Don't encourage them to fly to one or two certain airports anymore. If they all flood to ATL or LAX, then that's their own fault. I'd have a lot more fun being guaranteed full ATC across the entire US rather than flying into one airport expecting to get holding instructions and topping the tanks off with fuel.

I agree with Matthew Kramer that featuring two FNO fields then just turns into a giant crossfire. If you staff the entire US, in a perfect world, the pilots will distribute themselves to different fields. The traffic we get on the weekends is already at an all time high. On FNO nights, that number of aircraft will just get a boost instead of just taking them all and packing them into an airport that can't handle the traffic. What we are doing right now is definitely a step in the right direction.

It's back! GA Tuesdays is an event hosted by ZMP featuring different class Delta or Charlie fields every edition within the ZMP airspace. We will try to make this an every 2 week fun fly-in given that the date is open. Today's feature field is KDLH! Winter is over and the snow is gone. What's not to love? Come fly your jet, prop, or even helicopter, in or out of Duluth International Airport between 2300Z and 0200Z.

Wow look at me. Couldn't have messed this one up more. Thanks for pointing that out. I blame it on COVID-19 for cancelling the game anyway.  ;)

Tuesday is the day that the game is played. Sorry it's a little confusing. I'll add something at the bottom to clear up any confusion.
