News / Atlanta ARTCC seeks Training Administrator

The Atlanta ARTCC is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the role of training administrator.

Responsibilities:
●Reports to the ATM; VATUSA3 as necessary
●Maintain active online presence on the website, teamspeak, forums, email, and network
●Acts as a senior staff member, leading and supporting ARTCC members
●Attends staff meetings as called by the ATM
●Maintains, updates, and manages the training program, lessons, sweatbox scenarios and exam rubrics
●Abides by the requirements of the VATSIM Global Ratings Policy
●Oversees the quality of the training program
●Responsible for seeking out, appointing, and managing ZTL Instructors and Mentors
●Hold periodic training meetings to discuss changes and updates
●Creatively designs training resources to help controllers progress through the training program more efficiently
●Approves exam assignment for students and finalizes promotions
●Any other duty assigned by the ATM or VATUSA3

Requirements:
●Be an active member of the network in good standing
●Be a member of ZTL, or willing to transfer upon selection
●Currently holding a C1 rating or above
●Currently holding or have previously held an I1 in VATUSA
●Be able to work well in a team-oriented environment
●Have excellent written and oral communication skills

I am excited to announce that Colin Levy has accepted the position of Deputy Air Traffic Manager of ZTL. He has been a member of Atlanta since March of last year and in that time he has been an active center controller and instructor. Colin has a long history with VATUSA  where he spent many years in ZLA as a controller, instructor and DATM. In addition to his VATSIM experience, Colin actually gets paid to fly jets and he is always eager to share his knowledge of the airspace and procedures with us.

The Atlanta ARTCC is currently seeking applications for Deputy Air Traffic Manager who will assist the Air Traffic Manager in providing effective management and leadership of the VATUSA Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center.

Responsibilities:
●       Reports to the ATM
●       Maintain active online presence on the website, teamspeak, forums, email, and network
●       Acts as a senior staff member, leading and supporting ARTCC members
●       Attends staff meetings as called by the ATM
●       Acts as the acting ATM at request, or in absence of, the ATM
●       Helps develop new members and ensures they have the resources to succeed at ZTL
●       Assists the ATM in management of the roster
●       Assists the EC in coordination of events that may affect the ARTCC's airspace
●       Assists the FE in overseeing facility files
●       Assists in development and execution of ARTCC projects
●       Any other duty assigned by the ATM

Requirements:
●       Must have at least a Senior Student (S3) rating
●       Must be an active member of the network in good standing
●       Be a member of ZTL, or willing to transfer upon selection
●       Must be able to work in a team environment
●       Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Everyone please join me in welcoming Josh Burr to his new role as TA at ZTL ARTCC!

Josh rejoined Atlanta in August after several years at ZOB. At Cleveland, Josh was an instructor for over five years, and he served as their Training Administrator for part of that time. He also works at the ATC Sim Lab at his university and originally hails from the Atlanta area.

We are so excited to have Josh join our staff. We are looking forward to everything you will teach us!

The Atlanta ARTCC is pleased to announce that Joe Probasco has been selected as the new Deputy Air Traffic Manager of the ZTL ARTCC effective December 7th. Most recently, Joe has served as our Facility Engineer, and he has been and will continue to be a training mentor in the ARTCC.

Joe beings knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm for Vatsim and for ZTL and we are so excited he is joining our senior staff.

Although not required, it is highly preferred for applicants to be apart of their home ARTCC's training team for at least 6 months.

Atlanta and Jamaica. Fly between Atlanta (KATL) and one of Jamaica's two
international airports (MKJP/MKJS) on Sunday, November 4th, 2018 from
1800Z-2200Z (1pm-5pm EST) for an afternoon of world class ATC on VATSIM!

The Atlanta ARTCC (ZTL) is now accepting applications for Events Coordinator.

Duties
*Reports to ZTL Senior Staff (ATM, DATM) and the VATUSA Events Manager/VA Liaison (VATUSA5)
*Creates, plans, manages and executes events to generate pilot and controller participation while promoting ZTL
*Coordinates with neighboring facilities to arrange support for ZTL events and arranges ZTL support for events held by neighboring facilities
*Maintains active relationship with virtual airlines, coordinates for VA-hosted events affecting ZTL's airspace
*Develops and distributes marketing materials to promote events and ZTL
*Attends staff meetings as called by the senior staff
*Maintains active online presence on the ZTL website, TeamSpeak, VATUSA Forum and the VATSIM network

Core Requirements
The successful candidate will:
*Be an active member of the network in good standing.
*Maintain active membership and home controller proficiency and currency.
*Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Be able to work in a team environment.
*Have no disciplinary history or record of unprofessional behavior.
*Have experience with a raster graphics editor such as Photoshop or GIMP.
 
Highly Desired Skills and Abilities

Atlanta is looking for a motivated individual that possess a high degree of energy and commitment to serve as the Facility Engineer

Job Requirements:
•   Maintains and updates sector files for all approved ATC client software, updating at least every AIRAC cycle.
•   Maintains vATIS configuration files.
•   Maintains POF and alias files.
•   Coordinates with adjacent ARTCCs as required, specifically relating to frequency issues.
•   Ensures established LOAs are fully represented within sector files and other procedures.
•   Performs other facility related work as directed by the Senior Staff at ZTL.
•   Serves as a Leader to coach and motivate controllers while upholding a culture that builds exceptional internal and external pilot experiences.
•   Supports and participates in initiatives that give back to the VATSIM community.
•   Supports the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse range of talented people.
•   Holds self and others accountable to high performance standards while providing pilots with positive experiences.
•   Ability to listen to feedback and take constructive action.
•   Maintains an online presence on the VATSIM server and ZTL TeamSpeak.

•   Must abide by the minimum required hours as dictated in the ZTL SOP.
