News / Indy Center Appoints a new DATM
« on: March 17, 2024, 01:58:37 PM »
I'm happy to announce that the next Deputy Air Traffic Manager of Indy Center will be Krikor Hajian. Members will recognize Krikor from the Facility Directives Committee, where he has contributed significantly to our procedures’ rewrite and maintenance. While he was not a home controller, he has been a very active community member and controller. Originally from Boston, Krikor now lives in the D.C. metro area and works as an airline pilot.

As DATM, Krikor will oversee daily air traffic operations, lead special projects, and administer the controller roster. Welcome to Indy Center!

News / Position Posting: Indianapolis ARTCC Training Administrator
« on: July 01, 2023, 11:10:37 AM »
Position Posting: Virtual Indianapolis ARTCC Training Administrator
Date Posted: July 01, 2023
Submission Deadline: Open Until Filled

Purpose:
Indianapolis is looking for a confident and motivated Training Administrator to oversee the development of an innovative training program.

Indy is often regarded as ‘overflight country.’ We provide vital services to overflight traffic to and from the Capitol region and the northeast, as well as north-south traffic in and out of the Great Lakes cities. However, ZID and the underlying facilities are rich in aviation history and activity. History like the start of American Airlines at LUK or being the first facility using CPDLC. We also host several modern-day operations centers such as UPS Worldport in Louisville KY (the second busiest cargo airport in the United States), and the headquarters of NetJets in Columbus OH.

Our pilots expect a high level of realism when operating in ZID, and our controllers love to learn. The Training Administrator is in a key position to make or break both expectations.

The Indianapolis Training Administrator reports to the ATM and VATUSA3 and is responsible for:
•   Creating and approving training policies, procedures, and materials.
•   Selecting and managing training team members.
•   Recommending Instructor Candidates to VATUSA.

If you are the kind of person who is motivated to make a change and have a positive impact on your fellow hobbyists, this is a great opportunity.

Requirements:

•   C1 rating or higher
•   No recent unprofessional activity or network suspensions
•   Willingness to Transfer to ZID
•   A high level of knowledge of FAA ATO rules and procedures

Preferred Skills:

•   Team/Project management experience
•   VATUSA Instructor experience
•   VATUSA Staff experience
•   A high level of knowledge of VATUSA DP002

How to Apply:

Sound like the position for you? Make sure you meet the minimum requirements, then send an email to Hayden Young at [email protected], including the following:
•   Cover letter
•   Resume
•   Example Lesson Plan for an S2 Sweatbox session

Please also feel free to reach out with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!

Congratulations Nathan.

I’ve long been a strong believer that what the academy needed most was a dedicated project/program manager. It’s great to see you taking that role.

Looking forward to working with you!

Hey David,

I took a look at your progress and it looks like you’re pretty on track up to ATC Basics 1.7. I don’t believe you’ll ever see 100% completion if you don’t do the optional units. But, while I encourage that you do those, that’s not an issue.

What exactly are you having trouble with?

The Flight Deck / Re: Receiving ATIS updates in vPilot
« on: March 12, 2022, 09:25:45 AM »
I didn't know this was possible! In VRC with an ATIS published by vATIS we private message the ATIS 'SUBSCRIBE' to get the updates in our PM. That might work on pilot clients? I didn't see anything in the documentation at first look.

I do this all the time at work 'START AUTO UPDATES' so if it works in the simulator I will be doing it.

Thank you for the quick response. As a teacher by trade, this rubs me the wrong way in many ways but it is what it is.  :)

Thank you again.

I'm a career instructor as well, so I've enjoyed my time in the Training Administrator positions. These folks do a great job for a hobby group. Not everyone knows all our secrets.  ;)

Virtual Airlines / Question

There are a few repaints for the -7 and -8 on the operation center and PMDG's website. A -300 would be cool, we don't have a good 3/4/5 yet, to my knowledge.
