I found VATUSA twitter sites http://twitter.com/flyvatusa (http://twitter.com/flyvatusa) and http://twitter.com/vatusa (http://twitter.com/vatusa)
Both of these have a profuse amount of tweets about connections to the network and online events.
I found VATUSA facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/VATUSA/60085365324 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/VATUSA/60085365324)
No wall updates since January 2009.
Nothing really about VATUSA on MySpace (one pilot's videos).
So my question is this: is VATUSA actively using social media outlets to enhance user experience? Personally, I think it would be a great idea. In the pros column is more transparent communication. The cons are it takes time and a "real people answering the phones" mentality.
As great as this and the VATSIM forums are, most VATSIM members don't visit them on a regular basis - myself included - and so they miss opportunities like the SATCA videos or the World Flight or FNO signups etc. Social media outlets afford the opportunity to spread information quickly to a wider population, not only VATSIM members.
Just a thought.

I host a twitter feed (www.twitter.com/vatusa_training) for updates within the VATUSA Training Department. Right now there is only a few followers, but its there to keep those who are interested "in the loop" between the gaps of the monthly Training Department Report.

I guess I'm becoming an old fuddy duddy, but I just don't get facebook/twitter etc.. I'm on both. I think I check them a few times a year. Just a waste of bandwidth if you ask me.
