Simple Insanity / The funniest things heard while controlling/flying

One of my more memorable moments working San Francisco Tower a few years back;
To set the scene, we were in normal operations which had aircraft arriving 28's and departing 1's. The 28's come in along the bay shoreline to the airport where the departure end of runway 1L/R is the water(bay).
ME: SWA704, San Francisco Tower, Traffic departing the northbound on the crossing runway prior to your arrival, a Airbus A320, Wind 280 at 5, Runway 28R, Cleared to land.
SWA704: Roger Cleared to land 28R and Will be looking for the Airbus
ME: UAL1598, San Franisco Tower, Wind 280 at 5, Runway 1R, Cleared for Takeoff.
UAL1598: Rolling 1R
<approx 1 min passes>
SWA704: Tower, SWA704 has an aircraft in sight but it appears to be a sea plane, still negative visual on the airbus.
<10 seconds of silence>
(Obvisouly was the UAL): Yeah Yeah Yeah, Its us in the bay, apparently we took our Airbus sim to a whole new level by simulating the fly-by-wire controls however we forgot to plugin our fly-by-wire joystick to the computer.
SWA704: Tower, SWA704 would like make this a low approach fly by to honor the pilot in the Scarebus....We are proud to always be going in our boeing.
<Followed by lots of laughter on frequency>

Its too bad that the D-ATIS feature isn't linked to a free national website to make that easy(at least I do not know of a easy way to get D-ATIS); I use it at work through subscription services which make it nice.

Thank you everyone for the welcome, I appreciate Mark giving me the opportunity to serve ZOA/VATUSA to the best of my ability. I would also like to thank Michael Mund-Hoym for his past leadership for the ARTCC, there are some large shoes to fill over here.
I am eagerly looking forward to working with the controllers of ZOA and neighboring ARTCC's to keep that great partnership amongst the groups to continue the tradition of the Western Region's pride.

Virtual Airlines / Pacific West Airways Connect "Connect Connection"

Good Morning, Afternoon, Evening all;
I wanted to just pay a debt of thanks to ZOA controllers for our event we held today.

Pacific West Airways recently launched its Express Division referred to as "Connect" flying Beech 1900D's and ERJ-145LR's on top of its Main-Line fleet. Connect opened HUB locations at SFO, SEA, BOS and DEN with the addition of MIA and PHX coming soon.
Route Maps have been posted below; we invite anyone interested to join us and have some fun flying into the smaller fields. The ranking structure of PWA was adjusted to put new pilots in the Connect (Regional Airline) Division to simulate new pilots going through a Regional Carrier prior to the big boys. Once a pilot gets a certain number of hours its on the the big toys in the sky.
