In the VATSIM world, when pilots operate at or into or from an airport whilst no ATC is being manned (no Ground, no Tower, no Departure, no Center) at the time, even though it's "normally" a busy major airport such as KLAX, which UNICOM frequency should they use to broadcast to other traffic: the published frequency (e.g. KLAX 122.95, KMIA 123.0) or 122.8? Thank you.

On VATSIM (for the time being) it is ALWAYS 122.8 when at a non-towered field or within controlled airspace that isn't presently staffed.

There are a few exceptions to 122.8 being used as the sole UNICOM frequency, one is in Brazil, where a different UNICOM frequency is used for certain reasons.

For now it is 122.80, but I think the plan is to have different frequencies as the CTAF frequency. If you login to my.vatsim.net and go to Vatsim AIP on the left, you can search up an airport and it might highlight a certain frequency to use as CTAF/Unicom. For now use 122.80, but in the future you may have to check the airport.

That's old. Brazil has shifted over to 122.8.
