Howdy once again from the Texas-friendly skies! We're still looking for fresh, new faces for our dedicated family of av geeks to converse and fly with. Here's a refresher of some of the many features we offer:

- Our new paints include both freeware & payware models or textures for all of our aircraft (FSX only).
- We fully support Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004; and we partially support Prepar3d with a wide variety of ACARS clients to choose from, including smartCARS.
- We have a newly streamlined registration process.
- We have quite a few fun tours & events in the works.
- We have a legacy carrier inspired, world class schedule.
- Hubs in AUS, DEN, LAS, PDX, MSP, IAD, & TPA.
- Don't want to fly the schedule and/or primary fleet? We have a subsidiary charter brand to allow more flight freedom.
- No rank restrictions! Fly any of our aircraft at any time.
- 1st PIREP due in 14 days; only 1 flight due every 30 days after that.
- Brush up on your skills with our training partner VATSTAR.
- Pilot awards for hours, types, training, & other achievements.
- We're now on social media! (See below)

Virtual Airlines / Re: Summer Never Ends in Texas
« on: September 14, 2016, 06:08:08 PM »
Very sorry, the notifier didn't notify me of your reply.  :-[

No, we would never require any contribution for any of our fleet. We just couldn't afford to get it done and were simply asking for some help from our members to expedite what was probably going to take months. The thread Ryan found explains it pretty well. I am happy to say, that thanks very much to our great members, we were able to get a great new look to our fleet, which is now near completion.

Virtual Airlines / Summer Never Ends in Texas
« on: August 15, 2016, 10:26:00 AM »

Are cloudy skies looming because summer's coming to a close, and the reality of having to return to work or school getting you down? We're not letting that happen at TexAir. Every day means blue skies in the Texas-friendly skies! But Texas-friendly skies aren't just over Texas, no! We've got hubs all over the country with a diverse fleet to operate scheduled flights. But in case you want to remind yourself of that great summer getaway when you're knee deep in assignments, we have a great charter subsidiary to get you in all the planes you love, and to the places big birds can't necessarily go. We want our pilots to be the best they can be, so we also entered into an exclusive training partnership with VATSTAR to help our pilots achieve their dreams. That doesn't come without rewards, either! We offer "fast track" hours and profile ribbons for every course completed.

Did I mention that our Fleet Modernization Program is in full effect? Just this weekend, we took delivery of our gorgeous new 738 and 752 repaints. Have a look for yourself.

In addition to smiling pilots, we're also looking for some well qualified individuals to fill a few staff positions. Specifically, we need someone to take on the role of our Brand Manager position - which is considered a combination of both branding and marketing. We also need to fill our Fleet Manager position - which should be noted will not have to complete repaints for us at the moment as we've already negotiated that, we just need someone around to help us test deliveries and troubleshoot pilot issues. (Repaints may be discussed down the road.) And yes, we do have a few Hub Manager slots still open, as well. If you may be interested in any of these and have applicable experience, swing by the Staff page to get an idea of what we need and how to apply.

So stop on by, take a look at what we're all about, and say Howdy! If you like what you see, go on and apply!

Virtual Airlines / Looking to fill Two Staff Positions Soon
« on: July 22, 2016, 12:52:56 PM »
Howdy from the Texas-friendly skies once again!

TexAir Virtual Airlines is looking to fill two Administrative position vacancies that we've had open for some time. We would like to fill these positions so that we can complete our current project goals and move forward on other plans. (If you'd like to know more about our culture, just see this page.) The positions:

Fleet Manager
We need someone that has repaint and troubleshooting experience to bring our fleet into the 21st century. Specifically, we need new freeware repaints on all of our models that will not be retiring, and also repaints on replacement models we have planned to take delivery on. An interim livery has already been designed by my second in command, so you can use that one or we can look at fresh designs. Our primary focus is freeware for FSX/FS9, but would also like to offer payware options for as many aircraft as possible. P3D support a plus but not a must.

Brand Manager
We need someone to do exactly as I'm doing now. This someone must have a knack for creativity to design recruitment ads and programs, and take them into the FS community with hopes of bringing in even more great pilots and staff. They will be the "face" of the company - taking to external communications and explaining to those interested what we're about on at least a weekly basis.

So if you feel you may be qualified and ready to dedicate yourself to such an airline and position, feel free to drop by our Staff page and learn how to apply (or just click any of the links above). We also have other staff positions available, but those listed above will be priority until filled. And of course, we're always open to seeing more new pilots! We have a great community going once again, and we'd love more smiling faces. Drop on by, kick up your boots, and stay a while!

Virtual Airlines / Virtual Careers A-Plenty at TexAir This Summer
« on: July 03, 2016, 06:41:26 PM »
Greetings again from the Texas-friendly skies!

No doubt we haven't posted in a while, but with summer underway, what better time than now? Here are just a few reminders of what we offer pilots:
- No Rank Restrictions! Fly all of our aircraft with any amount of experience.
- One PIREP every 90 days to stay Active after the first one.
- We have a large fleet with a large schedule to compliment it, and are currently undergoing a Modernization program.
- We have smartCARS now!
- Don't want to fly the schedule? Make up your own flight under our JenaJet subsidiary.
- We have a friendly, family-like community of aviators of all experience levels, with a passion for simulation and realism.
- Many great hubs to choose from: Austin, Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, Minneapolis, Washington, and Tampa!

Come on by and say Howdy, just in time for July 4th fireworks at all of our hubs! http://www.texairvirtual.org

But wait...there's more! We're in need of some outstanding individuals to contribute more than flight hours. We have a few staff positions we'd like to fill immediately:

Fleet Manager/Aircraft Repainter - We really need someone whom can expedite our Modernization program, which is behind schedule. Also, someone that can expand our fleet offerings beyond MSFS.
Brand Manager - We could use someone to do exactly THIS - that is, go around actively making our name famous in flight simulation, recruiting pilots & staff, answering questions, etc.

Interested? Check out our Staff page for more info on what we're looking for. We are also accepting applications for an Events Manager and Hub Managers.

Come on by and fly the Texas-friendly skies, and also - Happy Birthday, America!!!

Virtual Airlines / Lots of Good News in the Texas-friendly skies.
« on: April 24, 2016, 11:07:32 AM »
Lots of great things have been happening at TexAir in the last few weeks. Our flight schedule is flat out massive, but just over 1/2 complete restoring it to what it once was. We've always compared our routes to that of a legacy carrier, but utilizing different or more off-the-beaten-path crew bases and focus airports. We've also been adding a lot of little details and functionality within the website, making the pilot experience more enjoyable by the day.

This week, we just added three great features that we've never had before, and pilots are reacting well over the additions. We announced our new partnership with SimBrief, in which pilots can get an automated dispatch of their flight without even leaving our website. We also opened our first "subsidiary", JenaJet, a company that focuses on general aviation contracts and on-demand charters. What this means for our pilots is they can now stray from flying TexAir metal and/or schedules if they wish, and fly somewhere airliners can't go in their favorite business aircraft carrying our VIP clients. Lastly, we have added a fifth ACARS client to our PIREP options, CCF Tracker.

The options just keep getting better and we have no intentions to stop. We are also looking into the more popular payware options to offer pilots in the near future, as well, and even ways to spend their virtual earnings. So you might as well come by and see how we're doing, yell "Howdy", and sign up if you like. Our most popular hub is the unique, one-and-only Austin (also our HQ), but we also feature hubs in Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, Minneapolis, DC, and Tampa. We're really connecting Texas with the rest of the world. http://www.texairvirtual.org

---------------------------------------------------
If you can't tell from some of my posts, we really do keep a laid back attitude at TexAir, and we're not into simulating much of the 'corporate' side of an airline. But even so, we could use some qualified and experienced pilots to fill a few staff positions, which will help make things better even faster.

At present, we'd like to fill the following positions fairly soon:
- Fleet Manager
- Brand Manager
- Hub Managers for KDEN, KPDX, KMSP, KIAD, & KTPA.

We are also accepting applications for these other positions:
- Website Manager
- Events Manager

If you've done similar things in the past, are interested in contributing to a VA as more than a pilot, and don't want to be part of a huge 'corporate structure', you're the kind of person we're looking for. Come by the website and get a feel for what we're about, and if you like what you see, go ahead and apply. We don't bite...hard...but the salsa does.  :D

Howdy!
TexAir Virtual Airlines checking in for its weekly spot. We've had a great start to April for sure. We've been getting lots of new faces, made some tweaks to the website, and even added some more Awards! As always, we're looking for more friendly pilots to fill those Texas-friendly blue skies. Stop on by and say howdy, y'all!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to say we're also recruiting for a lot of open staff positions. Presently, we are looking to fill the following Administrative positions with well qualified candidates as soon as possible:
Brand Manager
Fleet Manager

We are also accepting applications for these other positions:
Website Manager
Events Manager
DEN, PDX, MSP, IAD, TPA Hub Managers

Click on any of the positions to detailed description of the position and continue to the application.

We'll see y'all again next week! Thanks!

Won't y'all stop by and say Howdy?

TexAir had a great time making its return and is operating once again at full capacity. But now as we say goodbye to our past and look to our future, we're in need of some pilots. We accept PIREPs via FSPassengers, FSAcars, kAcars, XAcars, and manual forms. File your first one within 14 days, and after that only 1 every 90 days. No rank restrictions, and we even allow equipment swaps & subs.  Our schedule is as big as Texas and offers something for all skill levels. Click here to begin our application process.

It's great that we have begun accepting pilot applications, but we still have a lot of staff positions that need to be filled.  We want to bring in even more options and features for our pilots, but none of that can happen without help from some great individuals willing to lend us their time and skills. Please visit our Staff page to see what is available.

We hope to see many new faces in the near future, and as always, Come Fly the Texas-friendly skies!

Virtual Airlines / Boy Howdy It's Great to Be Back
« on: March 30, 2016, 09:55:33 PM »
It is a great pleasure to announce that TexAir Virtual Airlines has returned to the virtual skies after a long hiatus. We have a great, fully-functional, new website (at our old location texairvirtual.org I might add) with lots of features and awards for pilots to pursue. We return with the same all-Boeing mainline fleet and that one-of-a-kind massive flight schedule similar to that of a legacy carrier, but with lots of routes no one flies thrown in. We've upgraded our terminals at all of our old hubs in Austin, Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, Minneapolis, Washington, and Tampa - once again making it obvious why everything is bigger about Texas.

What has changed is our attitude towards flying and structure in general. We don't have a very large staff design (but with that said do have some vacant positions that need filling), we no longer restrict flights or aircraft based on rank, and our activity polices are extremely relaxed (1 flight every 90 days). Pilots can file via FSPassengers, XAcars, or online manual form (we hope to support more systems in the near future). We will be adding a forum in the next day or two; and with enough interest, we may consider a dedicated TeamSpeak server and some other great add-on features. And yes, we even have an amazing new livery design in the works. We could certainly use some pilots, though! Won't you come by and say Howdy? (Any of our pre-hiatus members are more than welcome to sign up as well - we even give an award for y'all.)

vPress Release:
Based in Austin, TexAir is a world-class simulated carrier hell-bent on connecting Texas with the rest of the world. We also have hubs in Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, Minneapolis, Washington, and Tampa - making it easy to see everything really is bigger about Texas. We also offer a grand flight schedule comparable to real world legacy carriers, but with many routes that no one else flies thrown in. We have an friendly atmosphere, minimal requirements, lots of options, and lots of awards. So come by and say Howdy, Y'all!

Virtual Airlines / TexAir Presents Pilot Training & More
« on: November 21, 2010, 11:26:55 PM »
[img]http://texair.a60.us/images/headerfoto.jpg\\\" border=\\\"0\\\" class=\\\"linked-image\\\" /]
We at TexAir just recently wrapped work on completing our primary schedules for the season, and to celebrate that, we launched quite a few new features this week that we've never had before. Among many of those new features are:
=> Event Signups
=> Passenger Timetable
=> Timetable Downloads
=> Route Maps

But perhaps the largest new feature is the introduction of our Exam Center and the start of our Pilot Training Incentive Initiative. We are giving our pilots the option to improve their skills and performance with Study Guides, Forum Ground School, Teamspeak Flight School, Resources (like the VATSIM PRC), and an Exam Center. Pilots can purchase available tests with their virtual earnings. Each test they pass earns them 10 study hours to be applied to their account as flight time towards a rank promotion. This is particularly helpful to those pilots on the low end of flight time and experience. Most importantly, none of our tests are required to take at any time. Training is optional for those who just want to keep flying. Our first test and study guide went active today, and we plan to bring more online over the coming weeks.

So now with all these great features, we would really like to see some new pilots and staff members. We welcome pilots from all walks and will transfer up to 100% verified hours. We also include a v$5000 signing bonus for new hires - which really helps for pilots who'd like to take our tests. We only require one flight a month to stay active and we have a realistic rank structure.

We're located at http://texair.co.cc. Drop on by and see us!

We're also in need of a few staff positions. Currently we'd like to fill these positions:
=> Fleet Director
=> Events & Charters Director
=> KAUS Chief Pilot
=> KSAT Chief Pilot
If youre interested in these and have related experience, visit our Staff Forum to learn how to apply. New staff hires get a v$10000 signing bonus.

Virtual Airlines / TexAir Looking For Pilots
« on: November 02, 2009, 02:14:33 PM »
TexAir recently asked its pilots how to improve overall activity of our pilots, and we formatted ourselves to be much more fitting. We're looking for new pilots that like our operation to come fly for us actively. Here's a basic summary of our features:

- Three flight types accepted: Online/Manual, FS Acars & FS Passengers.
- Experience based pilot ranks with up to 100% hour transfers from VATSIM or a VA.
- Large & diverse aircraft fleet with commuter, regional, mainline, and cargo divisions.
- Honors based activity policy: After the initial activation flight, fly just once a month.
- World class carrier flight schedule to/from four hubs and four focus airports.
- Limited staff positions: Deal directly with the CEO for personnel matters.
- Input friendly forum which includes a route suggestion board.
- Numerous website features with live flight maps, pilot briefs, the latest hub info & route bidding.

If you're interested in an airline built to world-class standards but operates like its from the municipal airport next door, then we welcome you to come by for a visit and apply: http://www.texairvirtual.com

Virtual Airlines / TexAir Looking for Pilots & Staff
« on: July 08, 2009, 02:26:20 AM »
[img]http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r272/beachdarryl0202/TXA%20Screenshots/featurelogo.jpg\\\" border=\\\"0\\\" class=\\\"linked-image\\\" /]

A lot has been added and improved upon at TexAir since my last post. I'd like to welcome everyone to come by and see our great website, and welcome any pilots looking for that great virtual job to stop by and apply. We are also in need of Hub Directors for three of our hubs (DEN, LAS, PDX). Here are a few of the things that have been going on around TexAir.

World Class Flight Schedule
We have a world class flight schedule, which means we cover not only the Lone Star state, but a vast majority of the United States, much of North America, and many destinations across the world. Our divisions include TexAir, Texpress!, TexAir Cargo, and TicketAir. Many of our similar routes have been dropped by other carriers due to the ailing economy, but not us. We still fly to the big metropolis and that little airport tucked away in the mountains.

Experience-Based Ranks & Aircraft
Because of our large flight schedule, it gives our pilots many different flight options at every level of our roster ranking system. For newer pilots, we have many puddle-jumps in our turboprops and regional jets from and to our hubs as well as small regional airports and just locations of interest. For the more experienced pilots, we have a diverse, modern fleet of Boeing aircraft to fly those long hauls, hub-to-hub, or maybe that small strip in the Caribbean. Ranks are based on experience as represented by total flight hours.

Modern Fleet
Our fleet consists of turboprops like the Embraer 120 to the large jumbo jets like the Boeing 747. Although the regional fleet contains brands more fitting to their needs, TexAir's mainline has always been 100% Boeing products, and fleet development has no plan to change that. Presently, we are in the process of refitting our TicketAir Boeing 737-800s to provide an excellent economy class carrier service to and from large sports areas (see more below). We're also trading in our Dash 8-200s for bigger and better Dash 8-400s. In a few months, we will begin to retire our older MD-83s and replace them with Boeing 717-200s. Some of the MD-83s will be sold, others will be stripped for cargo service. We like to keep our fleet modern and updated, and who knows, we may order some Boeing 787s in a few months.

TicketAir Becomes a Low-Fare Carrier
Previously, TicketAir was a charter division of TexAir aimed to provide luxury travel for professional and college sports teams. Because most sports teams already have air carrier contracts and partially due to the economy, the directors at TexAir decided to reform the division to provide low-fare economy service to travelers going to and from major sports destinations in the USA. Presently the Boeing 737-800s have been grounded for refitting to include much more seating and less luxury. Unlike the TexAir mainline fleet, these aircraft will not have the entertainment and service features included on other aircraft due to their focus on economy travel. TicketAir flights will be operated entirely by TexAir pilots, and will be principally based out of Houston, TX. Service is expected to begin in a few short weeks.

(Stock photo of a TicketAir B738)

Three Ways to Pirep
As has been mentioned before, TexAir allows ease of use with three different types of pirep recording. For VATSIM-only pilots, we have a manual submission form. We also allow flight exports from FS Acars and FS Passengers users.

Pilot Benefits
Presently TexAir offers a very nice pay system based on pilot ranks for virtual earnings. In the future, pilots will be able to spend virtual earnings on virtual and possibly even real prizes. So, the more a TexAir pilot flies and makes, the better (sounds real enough). We also have some nice benefits and rules as we only require one flight a month to stay active and virtual prizes on the message forum. That's right, we have a screenshot contest for virtual money every month. There's also double pay available for those who take part in VATUSA's Friday Night Ops.

Those are just a few of the things that have been going on around TexAir. We'd like to see more activity on the human side of things though, so stop on by some time and help us get back on the map for good. Thanks, and I hope to see y'all real soon!

Virtual Airlines / TexAir Returns to the Skies
« on: April 26, 2009, 09:57:29 PM »
[img]http://www.texairvirtual.com/images/bannersmall.jpg\\\" border=\\\"0\\\" class=\\\"linked-image\\\" /]

After re-opening our doors a few weeks ago, TexAir has adjusted to its new system very well. The new website has been completed, bugs removed, and pilots have been joining for our three way pirep system and large schedule which offers a variety of flight options. The flight schedule continues to be built, and currently offers all "hub-to-hub" and "hub-to-focus" flights, with local "hub-to-spoke" routes being added daily. Our cargo division has been included in the activity.

Fleet
We offer a diverse fleet for new to veteran pilots. Our mainline aircraft consists entirely of Boeing products, and our smaller regional aircraft include manufacturers like DeHavilland, Bombardier, and Embraer. Our aircraft are divided into categories directly related to our pilot ranks which are based on hours of experience.
EMB-120
DHC-8-200
CRJ-200
CRJ-700
MD-83
B737-700
B737-800 (TicketAir Charters)
B757-200
B767-300 (& Freighter)
B777-300 (& Freighter)
B747-400 (& Freighter)

Flight Schedule
Our flight schedule is modeled (but not based) after many real world air carriers and, when completed, will offer a large number of destinations across North America and the Caribbean, and multiple destinations across the world. We fly to some of the most popular airports, but you'll also find flights to airports rarely or never serviced by commercial airlines (until now).

Pirep System
Our pirep system is a wonderful tool that allows pilots to pick from three different ways to fly our flights. We are FS Passengers & FS Acars certified, and we also offer manual pireps for the strictly online VATSIM flyer. These options combined with our flights give our pilots a great amount of options to choose from.

Hubs & Focus Airports
In the past our pilots were given the choice between as many as seven hubs/crew bases. During our reformation, it was decided that this number was far too high for the style in which we operate. So, we have cut back our hubs to four, but have kept our other airports (as well as the home airport of our charter division TicketAir) as focus airports. Crews may only be based at the four hubs, but our flights originate from all eight airports.
Hubs/Crew Bases: KAUS, KDEN, KLAS, KPDX
Focus Airports: KEWR, KHOU, KMSP, KTPA

Staff
We are also hiring staff members. We're looking for some Hub Directors to help verify pireps and keep pilots going. We also need an Events Director to keep airline activity up and promote our online presence back to what it once was (or more). See our Staff Openings page for information on how to apply.

So if you like the sound of a great virtual airline that's been around a while, then come by and apply. We are ready for pilots at all hubs.
