Anyone come up with an ASDE looking profile?

Yes, there are many different CPs available on the ZSE forums!

Thanks to AJ from ZLA for giving them to Curley to post

Hey! I am interested in finding color profiles for DSR (VRC) that mimics the actual center radar. Meaning the interesting blue color etc. If anyone has these or can lead me to where they can be found that would be great!

Thanks,

So far all the stuff I've found from the VATSIM forums and ZSE forums is about the same as the default DSR mode. The background actually is blue, it's just very dark - I turned mine a bit lighter and left it like that

The Control Room Floor / "Position And Hold" Change Expected Soon

I don't see them going full ICAO on this, as the FAA doesn't want to deal with any more ambiguity than they have to. Line up and wait, I can go either way. But the 'behind/after the xxx, line up' isn't going to cut it, especially if parallel approaches are in effect.

BL.

Yeah that's not exactly what I meant, I do agree with you. I was just kinda saying I didn't see how pilots who are used to all that ICAO and conditional stuff could be confused by simply saying "position and hold" vs "line up and wait".

Cheers

What's the source of this article?

Does "line up and wait" really work better than the ages-old "position and hold?" Is there NTSB data to show that?

I guess it's more to align with everywhere else in the world (ICAO phraseology)...

Although I don't exactly see how pilots from countries which use the slightly more complicated multiple aircraft conditional line up clearances (something like "on taxiway Alpha1, behind the heavy Airbus 330 on short final, line up" which would be in front of another plane also holding in position) could get into a runway incursion simply misunderstanding "position and hold". I must admit, p/h does sound cooler, lol...

The Control Room Floor / VRC hates Hardware Acceleration

Well XP Mode in Windows 7 is actually just running a virtual machine on your computer. You must download and install it like any other software such as VMWare Fusion or Parallels for Mac. If you're fine with that then go ahead, it's actually a great solution if convenient in your case. However, some may not wish to run a VM on their computers due to performance, space, etc. issues on their particular systems. Also, there are some specific requirements such as having 2GB system RAM and, something of note, a CPU that supports chip-level virtualization.

General Discussion / Clarification on transfers and visiting

Thanks, that helped explain it nicely. Since I have just under 30 days left until I am able to transfer, if I apply to visit at ZSE first, I must wait 30 days after that before applying to transfer there?

(also posted on main VATSIM forums, whichever post someone with the answer sees first )

Hi guys, I have been reviewing the VATUSA policies and wanted clarification on these things:

1. I joined ZOA around 4/27 as my first ARTCC. Before I can transfer to another ARTCC within VATUSA I must wait 90 days, correct?
---I plan on transferring hopefully to ZSE and was wondering if this policy applied because ZOA is my first assigned ARTCC. I realize there is a 30-day window to apply for a transfer however I am unsure how to proceed as I am outside the 30-day window but have not reached the 90-day minimum for other transfers.

2. If I were to visit outside of VATUSA/VATNA, does the 50% time controlling at your home ARTCC rule still count?
---I plan on also visiting occasionally at VATASIA's Mainland China vACCs and would like some clarification on this note.

Thanks!
