Yep,

Fresh off the bus from MCT and just got out of indoc.  I'm in AMS-1 residing in H barracks waiting oh so patiently for me to class up which still won't be for a few more weeks.

Good luck. Don't fret it man, you actually have it well off.  NAS Pensacola is one of the better training commands.  Contrary to popular belief, you are better off going through NATTC then going to a place like NAS Meridian.  Rules over at Meridian are tight, nothing to do there at all, etc.  The mall here is about 20-30 minutes away, at Meridian, the TOWN is 20-30 minutes away from the base.

STARS colors at ABQ are different from P50 or I90.

Yup, it's based upon when STARS was installed at that facility and last upgraded.  My facility got it in Oct/Nov of last year and we have STARS R18.

Hey all..

My ARTCC is ZLA, but I'm based in real life at NAS Pensacola.  Wonderin' if anyone else is here too.  I know we got ATC training here, so I'm guessing there's gotta be someone here.  Personally, I'm training to turn wrenchs on MV-22's.  Who's here!?

I am AC3... went through NATTC, graduated last May, and then got orders across the street on NAS side.  It's oh so fun.. let me tell you.  Are you a student at NATTC?

Welcome to VATSIM.  Gary was right.  But also, just for your information, typing in all caps is netiquette for yelling and hurts peoples eyes.

Ok. How do i physically connect to vatsim. I am using fsinn, but i dont get it whatsoever. how do i plan a flight. the interface in that is VERY confusing.

At first it is confusing.  However, I recommend you head on over to the VATSIM Forums under the "FSInn" forum there is a sticky titled "The FSINN Installation Sticky" that will help you get it installed and references a video to show you how to connect to the network. Linky to the forum.

Welcome to VATSIM!

The Control Room Floor / "Position And Hold" Change Expected Soon

That official word hasn't shown up in the form on an FAA Notice.. so I'll hold my breath on that one.  Simple google searches show the FAA had a prior target date of no later than June 30, 2008.   We all know government bureaucracy and how swiftly it moves.

Well, it's actually "Grab your bag. It's on." "Bags" is singular. If "bag" was not singular, "it's" would have to be "they're", according to proper english grammar. Also, what you have there is a run-on sentence. A period or semicolon should be used between the two independent clauses to remove this.

Oh, Mikey, what is a "toe roster"? I haven't heard that one before.

Brian--

I see these as unwarranted, direct attacks at Mike instead of the airline.

And AJ, no, "It's on." is correct as it's a slang term to mean the battle is on, or the game is on... not referring to the bags.  His referral is accurate in the sense of slang.

Now, can we stop the nit picking and drop it?  VATSIM is for fun.. how about we just go out and have fun?

The Control Room Floor / "Position And Hold" Change Expected Soon

At my ATCT/Radar facility, we received this email months ago.  Word is from our FAA Liaison that this change won't be expected soon as it's been looked at for 9 to 10 years now, and is still "being looked at and considered" and "tested to ensure pilot and ATC acceptance".  If we see it, it won't be for a few years.
