The Classroom (Controller Tips) / Re: new to ATC
« on: January 25, 2016, 01:58:56 PM »
Hi,i want to be a ATC,i'd like to be in NY,so JFK or La Guardia.what do i need to do to start my training and get S1 and how do i get VRC setup?

Hello John,
Welcome to VATUSA.

As Jacob said, sign up via the link provided and select ZNY as the preferred facility. If accepted to ZNY, which is likely as there needs to be a darn good reason to not take someone, you will receive further instructions from the ZNY staff.

Just as an aside. Learning ATC at any facility takes a great deal of dedication, patience, and self study outside of lessons. Even more so at ZNY given the complexity of their airspace the amount of network traffic they see.

Keep a positive attitude, be willing to work really hard, and remember to have fun. Do this and you will do just fine!

General Discussion / Re: I am having a Problem

The default load for default aircraft is engines running and battery on.

To get what you want, you will need to manually power down the aircraft, turn off all the switches then save the flight. You will then have to load that flight every time. If you go through the fly now menu, it will revert to the default settings.

Otherwise try the A2A C172 or 182. These are far and away more realistic than the default or carenado aircraft.

General Discussion / Re: vPilot saying incorrect CID/Password - Help!
« on: January 11, 2016, 07:15:36 PM »
First thing to do is to have your password resent to you via the forgot password link, you would be surprised how many problems this solves.

https://cert.vatsim.net/vatsimnet/statcheck.html

It's also possible however unlikely (due to the fact you logged in here) that the server had not updated yet.

If you can not log in using PID and password by tomorrow morning i would open up a help ticket with membership.

Events / FNO: Operation Iceland
« on: January 07, 2016, 01:58:13 AM »

It's time for a little change, or should we say a bigger one ? This time the Friday Night Ops will be held in Iceland, yeah that's right- suit up for the weather that you rarely experience elsewhere. If you're looking for low ceiling, slippery runways, gusty winds or a need for de-icing we have it here at Keflavik airport (BIKF). Are you up for the challenge ?

For local briefing and scenery visit the pilot briefing page.

See you there !

Featured airports are Keflavik International Airport (KEF/BIKF) and Reykjavik Airport (RKV/BIRK)

Pilots are encouraged to familiarize themselves with operations within the Icelandic FIR and visit http://www.vatsim-scandinavia.org/pilots/airports/iceland for more information.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Just completed a flight from JFK to BUF. The flight crashed after I land at BUF but I didnt make it to the gate, it crahsed after I have vacated the runway. Will the points count?

Thanks
Bar Rodoy

The script should have captured that flight.

Thanks for the answer.
Lets say I am flying from MDW to OMA, I should get 2 points for landing at OMA. Then I am flying from MDW to IAD. Will I get 2 points for landing in IAD too? Even Becasue I deprated from Chicago ARTCC twice...?

Yes. Departure airports do not matter. Only arrival airports.
