Position Posting: Denver ARTCC Training Administrator

Purpose:
Denver is looking for a motivated individual that possess a high degree of energy and commitment to serve as the Training Administrator.

Key Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Air Traffic Manager and VATUSA3.
- Oversees a comprehensive ARTCC Training Department and academy.
- Develops and maintains a training policy, sweatbox files, and training materials.
- Manages a team of Instructors and Mentors

Requirements:
- Supports the Denver ARTCC’s mission of “Community, integrity, professionalism, fun” while fostering an open and accepting environment.
- Prior I1 experience.
- Serves as a leader to coach and motivate controllers while upholding a culture that builds exceptional internal and external pilot experiences.
- Oversees the quality of the training program.
- Perform multiple functions, including project management, instructional design, and instructional writing.
- Assess learning needs accurately and propose creative and effective learning solutions.
- Initiate and manage throughout the lifecycle of project, including: initiating projects, creating project plans, executing all milestones and tasks, monitoring risk, and evaluating success.
- Leverage a diverse set of skills and delivery approaches, including: instructor led, blended, experiential, media based, performance support, and other emerging technologies.
= Organization design for Denver Training, inclusive of consulting to understand needs, building project roadmaps, and guiding/managing the org design process in partnership with ARTCC Partners to support ZDV goals.
- Supports and participates in initiatives that give back to the VATSIM community.
- Supports the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse range of talented people to fill the roles of Instructors and Mentors.
- Holds self and others accountable to high performance standards while providing pilots with memorable experiences
- Ability to listen to feedback and take constructive action.
- Maintains, updates and manages training program, lessons, sweatbox scenarios, exam rubrics
- Attends periodic meetings to report on ARTCC activities.
- Ensures that Denver is following all VATSIM and VATUSA training directives.
- Be able to meet all activity requirements as outlined in ZDV General Policy 3.5 and all sections thereof (as appropriate).
- Prior ATC Mentor/Instructor experience.

 
Preferred Skills:
- Teaching/Education experience (on or off VATSIM).
- Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience (real world or VATSIM applicable).
- Familiarity with the Denver policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates the qualities of understanding, patience, restraint, and professionalism.

Please welcome Denver’s new Webmaster and Department Head of Webservices, Ben Levy! Ben brings experience as a former WM, shares mine and our DATMs vision for Denver’s technical future, has familiarity with our current infrastructure, and more. In addition to VATSIM, he has leadership experience through the Civil Air Patrol. I am excited to have Ben on board with us and for his future as a team leader. Congratulations, Ben!

I am very excited to announce Denver’s newest Deputy Air Traffic Manager, Benjamin Gustafson! Ben brings to the team a wealth of leadership experience as a former member of our Armed Forces, previous Web Master experience, training experience, and much more. I cannot wait to work with Ben as my right-hand man and continue to push Denver forward. Please congratulate Ben when you see him! Ben will be placed in to the position today and will be fully on boarded and is ready to hit the ground running.

Purpose:
The Denver ARTCC is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who will provide effective management of the ARTCC’s data services, including but not limited to: web content development and services, discord management, and email systems.
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Air Traffic Manager and Deputy Air Traffic Manager
- Develops, manages, and oversees Web Services, APIs, E-mail, and other systems
- Responds quickly to website and data system needs
- Develops policies and procedures for operation and maintenance of the ARTCC web and data systems
- Oversees and manages the ZDV Web Team
- Other duties as assigned by the ATM or DATM
 
Basic Requirements:
-  Supports the Denver ARTCC’s mission of “Community, integrity, and professionalism” while fostering an open and accepting environment.
-  Serves as a leader to coach and motivate controllers while upholding a culture that builds exceptional internal and external pilot experiences.
- Supports and participates in initiatives that give back to the VATSIM community.
- Supports the recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse range of talented people.
- Strengthens others through consistent feedback while driving productivity and morale.
- Holds self and others accountable to high performance standards while providing pilots with memorable experiences.
- Partners in the development of strategy and helps to translate into specific priorities, objectives, and action plans.
- Attends periodic meetings to report on ARTCC activities.

Additional Requirements:
- Must have at least a Student 1 (S1) rating
- Must be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with no significant disciplinary history
- Must be proficient in modern web programming languages and techniques, including, HTML, MySQL/MongoDB, JavaScript, NodeJS, GoLang, PHP, and CSS
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must display leadership qualities
- Must be available for regular correspondence (via the primary means of e-mail), as well as routinely checking VATUSA forums and other outlets for official notices
- Be able to meet all activity requirements as outlined in ZDV General Policy 3.5 and all sections thereof (as appropriate)


Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated custom web programming skills and expertise
- AJAX
- Laravel
- Familiarity with APIs for other applications (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
- Experience with VueJS
- Experience with ElectronJS

This position requires a significant commitment to ZDV and VATSIM. Role and responsibilities may change as needed.

- Reports to the Air Traffic Manager
- Assists in management of ATC Roster, permissions and access, Discord administration, and other general administrative tasks associated with ATC organization
- Assists in development of ARTCC SOPs, LOAs, Policies, and more
- Maintains a high online presence and community presence
- Completes other duties as assigned by ATM

Requirements:
-  Supports the Denver ARTCC’s mission of “Community, integrity, and professionalism” while fostering an open and accepting environment.
-  Serves as a leader to coach and motivate controllers while upholding a culture that builds exceptional internal and external pilot experiences.
- Supports and participates in initiatives that give back to the VATSIM community.
- Works in collaboration with Virtual Airlines and other VATUSA ARTCC’s to leverage synergy opportunities across the United States.
- Supports the recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse range of talented people.
- Strengthens others through consistent feedback while driving productivity and morale.
- Holds self and others accountable to high performance standards while providing pilots with memorable experiences.
- Partners in the development of strategy and helps to translate into specific priorities, objectives, and action plans.
- Understands and drives appropriate metrics to assess controller performance.
- Ability to listen to feedback and take constructive action.
- Monitors the daily activities of the ARTCC.
- Maintains an online presence on the VATSIM server and Denver ARTCC Discord.
- Assumes the duties of the ATM when he is unavailable.
- Attends periodic meetings to report on ARTCC activities.
- Ensures that Denver is following all VATSIM and VATUSA directives.
- Be able to meet all activity requirements as outlined in ZDV General Policy 3.5 and all sections thereof (as appropriate)

Preferred Skills:
- Prior ATC Mentor/Instructor experience

You're dealing with an event with nearly 400 movements in four hours. Unrealistically busy traffic numbers. Doing practice approaches IFR in that kind of traffic is plainly just not smart and frankly is kind of ridiculous. If the real world PHL was that busy, would you expect them to be able to sequence you in when they're compressing down to 2 nm within 10 nm of the airport? I guarantee you it would not happen.
