Events / [12 Sep 2021 1700-2100z] Bradley Bash 2021
« on: June 05, 2021, 11:43:07 AM »

It's a bash, it's at Bradley... it's Bradley Bash!

Every year we staff-up the entire Y90 tracon, including KBDL, KORH, KHFD, KBAF, and KCEF. Join us this year for another afternoon of sun, fun, and flying around Connecticut and Massachusetts. All traffic operations are welcome! We're happy to accommodate GA Flying clubs, Virtual Airlines, and individual sight-seers alike. It's a great afternoon to take advantage of a fully-staffed minor TRACON.

Airports: KBDL, KORH, KHFD, KBAF, and KCEF
Time: 1-5 PM ET, 17-21Z

BVA's Minor Facility Showcase gives pilots the opportunity to experience one of our minor airports. Local and overlying air traffic controllers will be providing service for those looking to explore the area, practice instrument approaches, arrive from afar, or just remain in the pattern. With a single focus-airport, this is the perfect opportunity to experience being sequenced at a busier airport with both IFR and VFR arrivals.

This week's event features the controlled airport of Bradley (KBDL).

It’s also a great time to try out one of our WINGS flights. Remember, many of the flights have published Alternate Airports, allowing you to earn your BVA pilot ratings at event airports!

Events / [9 Oct 2021 1800-2200z] BVA GA Fly-In: Upstate New York
« on: February 21, 2021, 08:42:29 PM »

Set the parking brake on the airliner and knock the cobwebs off your favorite general aviation aircraft! The General Aviation Fly-In visits locales across the country that are famous for their scenery and general aviation influence. While anything from a single engine Cessna to a regional jet is welcome in this event, ‘low and slow’ offers the best opportunity to experience the scenery.

During this GA Fly-In event, local air traffic control is staffed at smaller airports with overlying radar controllers to provide VFR Flight Following and IFR services. Fly VFR closed traffic, practice instrument approaches, or fly VFR or IFR between the featured airports: the choice is yours.

This weekend BVA is venturing to Upstate New York to take in the changing of the leaves from the air! Colloquially called "leaf peepers," residents of the New York City metro area venture north every year to see the leaves change. We decided we'd tag along this year.

It’s also a great time to try out one of our WINGS flights. Remember, many of the flights have published Alternate Airports, allowing you to earn your BVA pilot ratings at event airports!

Events / [29 Sep 2021 2300-0200z] BVA Regional Circuit: BOS, BTV
« on: February 21, 2021, 08:25:51 PM »

In the Regional Circuit, we staff up two of our airports to provide pilots with an opportunity to receive 'gate-to-gate' ATC service for the duration of the event. Pilots are encouraged to fly between the two airports and make the return flight if time allows; however, traffic from other airports is welcome as well. The Regional Circuit always creates an immersive atmosphere with busy frequencies and congested airways between the host airports.

This Regional Circuit features Burlington (KBTV) and Boston (KBOS).

Events / [7 Aug 2021 1600-2300z] 22nd Annual Boston Tea Party
« on: February 20, 2021, 08:38:09 PM »

We're rolling into our 22nd year of celebrating all that is BVA, and we're inviting you to join us. On Saturday, August 7, our controllers will bring you seven uninterrupted hours of ATC coverage across the entirety of the Boston ARTCC. That includes Boston (KBOS), Bradley (KBDL), Providence (KPVD), Manchester (KMHT), The Cape, and more. Staffing will be available from 12-7pm ET. Hope you brought your Charlie Card!

We strongly recommend pilots avoid the delays at KBOS and help balance the traffic by flying to the regional airports with local ATC coverage.

We're continuing the tradition of hosting our annual Tea Party Poker. Pilots fly to staffed airports earning poker cards, and at the end of the event will have the opportunity to win great prizes from our sponsors. Official Tea Party Poker 2021 rules will be posted at a later date so stay tuned!

We're taking the pancake fly-in to the next level by staffing a whole block of maple syrup country in our rendition of the local pancake fly-in. We'll have a hot pot of coffee and tall stack waiting for you to arrive!
