Title: VATUSA Systems Recovery - Take 2
Post by: Andrew Podner on June 03, 2009, 09:37:43 PM
Ok folks,

So here's where we are at:

Training Center is being worked on now.  I am still chasing bugs here and there in the transfer and instructor systems, but we are getting them worked out.  any help requests should be sent through our new help desk system at support.vatusa.net.

Thanks

11:00 CDT UPDATE

    * Public Site functionality is restored
    * New members process is fully operational
    * Forums restored (you will need to reset cookies)
    * ATM panel restored
    * Instructor Panel Restored
    * Cert Center Restored
    * Training Center is online.
    * Instructor Application is working
    * Backend databases online and running as scheduled
    * Help desk is online

TO DO:
    *User password change
    *C3 application
    *Mailing List/NOTAMs

The mailing list engine was pretty severely affected by the outage and was in fact deleted by the webhost before we were even able to back it up.  So we are back to square one on that system.  I hope to have the other systems up soon.  Any requests for service that are part of non-functioning systems should be sent to the help desk

Link to the Help Desk (http://support.vatusa.net)

Thanks again

You guys are doing a hell of a job restoring and I like the new look.  One question, in that new look, I'm a bit lost, can you point me to the Cert Center link?  I know it's still the "/certcenter" address, but there is no link for Staff or ATC to click on to take exams.  You're gonna get that a lot I'm sure as a question from new ATC.  Just trying to head it off at the pass.  Thanks.

I'm having some trouble with the ATM transfer panel.

When rejecting a transfer, I get a validation warning telling me to put comments in (I did). Clicking reject a second time simply reloads the entire roster in the popup window. It doesn't appear that the transfer reject is working. I did manage to accept one earlier in the week with no problems that I can recall.

I'd recommend that we modify the rejection process a bit if possible. I do recommend we keep the comments as required so that there is some audit trail going on.

I haven't poked around much else, but I will again say thank you for all the hard work on the site.

Ok,

I got the act of rejecting the transfer to work, but it still prompts to enter a reason and reloads the artcc window rather than self closing.

I don't want to spend a whole lot of time repairing this system since we are actively working on replacing it entirely, but for the time being, you are now able to reject transfers.  Ignore the buggy behavior, the actions that need to be performed are working.

Thanks

Hi,

Every time I try going to the VATUSA website or forums, I continue to get the "Account Suspended" message.  I've tried clearing my cookies and cache.  The only way I'm able to get in is by using a proxy.  Any suggestions?  I've tried it on IE and Firefox.  I've tried it on other computers at my house that are hooked up to the same router and they all get the same message.  Is it my connection?  router?  anything?

Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like a DNS cache in your router perhaps.

Try running "ipconfig/flushdns" on your PC in the CMD window.

Ok.  I ran it once, it let me go to the VATUSA home page, but once I clicked on Forums, it brought the 'Account Suspended' message again.  Ran it a second time, now I'm back to the beginning, not even the home page opens.

I'll continue to try to flush the DNS.  In the mean time, any other ideas?

Ricardo, I would recommend calling your ISP.  I had a similar issue a couple years ago, and it turned out that something on the ISP's end wasn't updating.  It took me going through quite a few people to finally get someone who knew what they were doing, but once I finally did, it was updated and working within an hour.  Not sure if that's the problem here, but it might not hurt.

Ok. Will tell my dad, LOL. His and his friend's small company is my ISP. But they run off BellSouth.  Free internet but crappy customer service since it's family.

That beats waiting on the phone for an hour talking to some machine that asks every possible question that doesn't relate to the problem at hand ... lol

Hey Andrew I was looking through the web site today and clicked on the Western Region link on the front page an it directed me to a page with the title "What Exactly *IS* an ATD"I don't think that is were it was supposed to go. Just letting you know.

Is it my understanding that Vatusa.org is being replaced by Vatusa.net ?
