Some of us have different aspirations that your own. And some facilities have different aspirations as your own. To say that people in this division should not partake in realism if they so desire, is a disappointment. You diminish the value of other people's interests by making these egregious statements.

If I said "by the way, if people want absolute fun, I hear there's a bouncy castle and petting zoo they can go to," think about how that would come off to someone that wants to have fun.

A handful of places do this in the real world. In the Miami ATCT, they highlight aircraft once they've been cleared to land and in the TRACON, they highlight aircraft once they've been switched to tower.

Hey folks,

I haven't been able to find a good converter from FAA .dat files to .sct2, so I wrote my own.
Unlike other converters, this one can convert multiple .dat files at once and name them appropriately in the outputted sector file.
At this time, it's still a work in progress. I intend to add compatibility to go straight from .dat to a file that could function with vSTARS (thus bypassing the use of SectorFileToVideoMap).

Download and Additional Information

Please let me know if you have any issues running the file, suggestions, etc.

The one I’m confused about is the 10% slide. If a plane’s going 180 over the ground, 18 nm seems excessively far.

A solution idea - some lightweight software which would mute your mic input to vSTARS/vERAM/VRC and press your push to talk every 30 seconds or so. When you manually press your PTT, it works normally.

When I'm not on university WiFi, the clients work fine. It's the school's end that is causing the problems.
Perhaps someone could make a client to send an empty packet every 5-10 seconds through the ports used for voice.

EDIT: can someone provide me with the ports used for voice comms?

I'm on a university WiFi network and as a result, I have to consistently (every 20-60 seconds) tap my PTT in order to keep the voice port open. If I don't do this, I cannot hear pilots on the frequency when I'm controlling.
I know others have experienced this issue in the past and I'm wondering what the best solution may be. I'm not sure if my university would be able to open ports for me.

Is there any application which may be able to send a small packet every few seconds in order to keep the port open? Any other suggestions on how to resolve this?

This is a useful resource for getting an idea how many arrivals an airport can handle per hour based of a certain configuration.
Here's San Francisco's for instance:

As you can see, our arrival rate drops by over half if we went up using a single runway in IMC (as we did during an FNO last year).

Hey Rob,

You might want to reffer him to the org forum. That's your go-to for any and everything X-Plane related. They should be able to help him work out some of his quirks.

I haven't used XP11 on a Mac, but I did use XP10 a few years back. What problems is he experiencing? Maybe he just needs to calibrate his hardware. Here are two good tutorials on hardware calibration, one from XPlaneOfficial (Official XP Channel), and the other from catstrator.
