Duties

The Events Coordinator reports to the Deputy Air Traffic Manager and is responsible for the planning, organization and execution of ARTCC sponsored events. The EC functions as a junior ARTCC staff member.
- Identifies opportunities for and plans events to generate traffic and to promote the ARTCC.
- Schedules controllers for positions/shifts within 48 hours prior to event start.
- Coordinates with neighboring ARTCCs to arrange support for ZAB-hosted events, and arranges ZAB support for neighboring events.
- Is the de-facto Controller-in-Charge for all ZAB events, unless otherwise coordinated.
- Maintains relationships with virtual airlines and coordinates support for VA-hosted events affecting the ZAB airspace.
- Develops and distributes marketing material (graphics, news posts, forum posts, discord announcements, etc) to promote events and the ARTCC.
- Leads and manages events department of ZAB.


Minimum Qualifications

- Be a member of VATSIM in good standing.
- Be a member of the Albuquerque ARTCC, or willing to transfer upon selection.
- Hold a VATSIM Student 2 (S2) rating or higher.
- Maintain active status by complying with the ARTCC activity requirements.
- Posess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Posess a basic level of graphic design skills, for event banner creation.
- Be able to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Be able to develop and maintain professional working relationships with neighboring ARTCC Event Coordinators

Desired Qualifications

- Hold a VATSIM Senior Student (S3) rating or higher.
- Current Albuquerque ARTCC member.
- Has previous ARTCC (or higher) staff experience.
- Has previous Event Coordinator experience (VA, ARTCC).
- Posesses advanced graphic design skills.
- Has real-world managerial or supervisory experience.

Your application must include:
- Full name, email address and VATSIM CID.
- Resume & Letter of Intent.
- BONUS: Letter of Recommendation from current ATM (if non-ZAB member).
- 2 rough event ideas. Fine details are not important, but a general overview of the event. (BONUS: Create event banners for these events. to demonstrate graphic design ability)

Applications will be accepted until 22 JUL 2020, 2359z, or when a qualified candidate is selected. This deadline may be extended if no qualified candidate is selected before. This posting will be updated accordingly.

What to Expect

The EC position is a great entry-level position for those members wanting to gain ARTCC staff experience. However, the workload is considerable and should not be taken lightly. Only those who understand the requirements and can make the appropriate commitment should consider applying. Candidates can expect an initial evaluation of their application, after which they MAY be contacted with further instructions. All candidates will be notified when a selection is made.

We always seem to get stuck in the same format for Friday Night Ops here at VATUSA, fly-ins, crossfires, packing an air space ---  Well it's time to try something a little different.  It hot in Phoneix!  Too hot!   It's time to get out of town.  Hop on your favorite airline and take a trip!  Lots of great destinations are offered from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Aiport!  See the "Golden Coast" and visit KSAN, KLAX, or KSFO.  Go you try your luck at the tables in KLAS.  Maybe get some mountain air in KDEN or KSLC!  Head on over to KDFW or KHOU for some of the Texas hospitality. Fly some cargo to one of your favorite freight hubs. So come give our Local Departure controllers a good workout!  Just remember, check density altitude before your departure!

Events / KPHX - KDEN Crossfire!

Man, it's hot in Phoenix -  not really much better in Denver either!  Why not take a quick trip! It's time to escape the heat... at a nice comfy cruising altitude, somewhere above FL180!  Load up your aircraft with passengers looking for a change of scenery during the dog days of summer!  ZAB ARTCC and ZDV ARTCC are staffing up to bring you a fully covered trip between KDEN and KPHX - or any other destination you may choose. Maybe get in those hours and make it a round trip between the two.  Just remember - no matter your destination - "check density altitude"!

The end of summer is catching upon us and it seems like it’s gone by way too fast!  Kids and adults are getting ready to go back to school, sports seasons are kicking off, new shows on TV, and before you know it, we will be into the mad rush of the holiday season.  Where does the time go?  Well, let us help you get some relaxation before the big rush, with a flight or two!  ZAB is staffing up for our “End of Summer Fly-in!  Load up those flight simulators and take a trip in and out of Phoenix.  We’ll have a full staff of friendly Controllers looking to make your trip in or out of the airspace as easy as it can be!   See on frequency!

We are staffing up ZAB to marshal in those planes for the 2019 Waste Management Open Golf Tournament.  We will be staffing the usual Enroute and TRACON positions for ZAB and P50, as well as local facilities for KPHX and KSDL.
