These were emailed to me.  There are a couple variations, but here is 2 of them for consideration as well.

Seems more of a banner than a logo, in a practical point of view.

I agree with Dimitri.

Also, I don't completely agree with the way we are designing and selecting logos here. Graphic design is not something everyone can opine on, with all due respect.

I recommend reading http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2009/06/12...signing-a-logo/ and paying special attention to rules #4 (clever use of colors), #9 (keep it simple) and #3 (size matters). Most of the proposed logos don't meet at least one of those three very basic rules.

I also recommend presenting the logos in at least two different sizes: a small one that would go on the top left of documents (like PDFs) which would be no more than 200px wide, and a larger one to be used on top of the web pages. If a logo looks anything but great in the smaller size, it should be thrown away. Again, that applies to some of the proposed logos.

If anyone is offended by my comments above, I am sorry but you should take it personally. If you are designing logos that don't meet those basic ideas, you are trying to do something you have no clue how to do.

Glad some of you like it! I figured I'd make it bigger and I added some effects to it to give it a little bit of body rather than the flat design I originally had. I'm not sure which one I like more, so I'll let other people chime in.

Don, maybe we should let other people design some stuff then hold a vote? or is this vote the final one?

Ryan,

I like it, but something with the letter spacing still makes it look slightly unbalanced in my eyes. Dimitri, Merik, or some of the other guys can chime in, but perhaps you might consider kerning the VAT to be spaced a little bit more tightly to create uniformity with the USA portion.

I think it looks better without the shadow IMO. Maybe try giving it a little space between the T and U and some different color combinations and maybe remove the italics?

I honestly didn't know what I was starting when I threw that poll up there....  All I knew was that I had 2 new guys playing with putting together a new website, both shot me a different placeholder logo, and even though I know the last time submissions were requested we had no interest, I figured I'd at least see if there was interest in something new out there.  Boy, is there!

That said, no, this isn't a final vote by any means, but a great avenue to get the creative juices going and get some good options in case we want to make an update.  Keep at it!

I think you guys are right, the VAT text needed to be tighter and not connected to the U. I tried it without italics and it didn't look right next to the star. Here it is, may need some tweaking. I'll mess around with other color combinations later, but I really like the darker blue and red personally.

I like it. I would suggest you remove the little white star on the bottom left, it's a focal point and takes away from the logo as a whole.

Means VATUSA is becoming stronger and not weaker like has been the trend with participation over the last several years. Good to see maybe the rescission as i call it is ending slowly.

I second that. Also, perhaps make the rest of the star (parts that are dark grey right now) appear in blue? I am assuming you want that start to remind one of the US flag; then red, white and blue is the way to go.

The star is red and blue. The blue is a dark muted blue, is everybody seeing it as grey? I'll have to tweak it I guess.
